Well after hearing numerous times about the Allams saying they would be disappointed if we didn't make the play offs. But i wondered am i the only Hull City fan who feels there are teams spending more and spending bigger than us, and better teams that will get there ahead of us. I know we will aim for the play offs but all i am saying is i would not be disappointed in a nice 10th place finished. The amount of teams that can realisitcally get the play offs is ridiculous: Birmingham, Blackpool, Burnley, Brighton, Bristol City, Cardiff, Ipswich, Leeds, Middlesborough, Forest, Reading, Southampton, West Ham. They are the ones i feel can really get it on top of that you have teams like Millwall who had a good go at it alst year. So it is clear there are other teams who are good enough, are we being big headed in expecting the play offs? Surely the fans of all these teams will be expecting the play offs to? It shows how big last year was in sense the division has got so much harder, and we had a chance, but i still trust NP and i do not class it as failure if we do not get into the play offs.
not getting carried away, if the transfers are done and dusted and we play Jimmy (although that may not happen) then Top 8. I'd expect progress and 8th or above would represent that think we've had a good transfer market with deals being sorted quickly and efficiently, none of the Negredo, Campbell, Zamora cloak and dagger rubbish..
Haha, I think he's quoting AP there. To clarify, Ehab Allam said he will be very disappointed if we don't reach the top six.
With some creativity in our midfield wether that be Jimmy playing again, Cairney stepping up to the mark or Koren played in the middle I think top 6 is a possiblity with the current squad. However i forsee Evans and Mkenna in our starting XI midfield which means i think a top 10 finish is achievable.
surely a top 6 finish is our target and thats what I expect. we have to build on last season where we just missed out on the play-off's (due to a few crappy last games) also i think it would be wrong to assume that all the big spending clubs will make the top 6, many clubs have spent large in the past and failed.
Every team's aim for the season will be to go for promotion (well almost every team , some will just hope to consolidate or stay in the division), otherwise what's the point? If I remember rightly we did not spend vast sums when we got promoted back in 2008 so why can't we do the same again? Just as with Blackpool if you have the right team ethic and set-up and can built up some momentum then who knows what can happen? We have to at least aim for the play-offs and I expect us to finish higher than we did last season whether that's in the top six only time will tell.
I'd like to see us top6 but am worried Pearson hasn't got all the players in or out that he'd like, so am thinking we will be top ten outside play-offs.
I don't see the point in not aiming for the play-offs, i want the team to do as well as possible and i'd be disappointed if we didn't get in the top 6. I understand that there are lots of teams in this division aiming for the same thing but i'd feel very uncomfortable saying i'd be happy with "a nice 10th place" before the season has even started! What happened to the blind ambition tigers fans used to have in the Prem days? Aiming for Europe and the likes! I want play-offs and nothing less. I'm not saying if we don't get there then NP must go, that depends on how the team performs throughout the season. The drab home performances of last season won't be good enough if they don't get us where we want to be.
I would love us to finish in the top 6, but I expect a top half finish. We have got several young players (eg Dudgeon, Gulasci, Brady etc) who, although come very highly recommended, their experience is mostly for the reserves or a handful of games on loan which doesn't really prepare you for a season in the NPC. Hope I'm wrong!!!
depends on how koren and bullard are used...couldnt make last night, but i noticed the 1st paragraph in the mail today about dudgeon, who made several bursts up the left but few where spotted.....i know its only the 1st friendly, but couldnt help but laugh, as that is most peoples concerns about our centre midfield..
Dudgeon's problem last night was having Kilbane in front of him, I was just next to the dug-out on the City left and Dudgeon kept piling past me only for Kilbane to play the ball sideways into the middle, or into touch.
I think Koren is more key than Jimmy, Jimmy has obviously had his problems but i know you the same as me have seen that no-one has put Koren in their team, but numerous times he was the best attacking midfielder outside the PL for West Brom so i don't see why he can't be again. Dudgeon was brilliant last night, but every time he made a run Killer and Cairney just turned back inside narrowing it up again..... We was crying out to get it wide to him, but hey thats the knowledge of the mail! I agree we have to aim for the play offs, but yet again so are all those other sides, i just see those who are expecting the play offs to be easier said than done are completely wrong and over ambitious. I think we will do well and of course we will aim for them, but i am not going to be over ambitious and place blind faith in the side, when i feel there are 6 better sides in the division than us, which there are in my opinion. Which is why i feel a 10th place finished is not a bad finish.
I expect us to improve in last year, though not necessarily with promotion. It might be a case of another step on the ladder, but after the way we've developed the squad i'm looking forward to the season and expecting plenty of decent games and the league should be as competative as ever.
Agreed Larry, Yes i would love to see us get into the playoffs and even get promoted, but as long as i see every player giving 100%+ and pride to wear the Black and Amber (and blue!) shirts of the tigers, i will be happy. Keep the away performance(Bristol an exeption) going from last season and inprove the home form, then who knows what we can achive.
I don't expect to finish in the play-offs, but I think we will (if that makes sense). Should the home form improve sufficiently, I think we'll definitely be in and around the top six. If we're as poor as we were at the KC last season, then we have no chance
I think now that were not one of the only strongest teams in the league, and dont have that 'they were in the prem last year title' teams will come to the KC to play football not to just sit back all game!
