I would have thought moving to Portsmouth was a punishment. Portsmouth's Leeta Rutherford has been banned for eight matches for using ableist language towards an opponent. The incident happened while the midfielder was playing for former club Southampton against Sunderland in the Women's Championship on 12th February. The Football Association charge was deemed an "aggravated breach" because the language used included a reference to disability. She denied the charge but was found guilty by an independent commission. Rutherford has also been fined and ordered to complete a face-to-face education programme. The 35-year-old left Southampton in April and returned to Portsmouth for a third spell in July.
