Dean Ashton explains what Dean Holden has to change about Bristol City this season The former England striker is intrigued to see how Holden does at replacing Lee Johnson Dean Ashton says Dean Holden needs to improve Bristol City's mentality if he is to get the Robins challenging this season. The Robins start their Championship season against Coventry City on Saturday looking to improve on the disappointing 12th-placed finish last season. Quest pundit Ashton believes the Robins have enough firepower in their squad with Nahki Wells and Famara Diedhiou up front that they will be a challenge to a lot of teams this campaign. Yet Ashton believes Holden has got to reverse a fatal flaw that the Robins had under Lee Johnson that would see them go on long streaks of results. On the whole, the former England striker says he will be intrigued to see how Holden does at replacing Johnson at Ashton Gate. "It's always interesting when you've got someone coming in from within," he explained. "Dean Holden coming in off the back of Lee Johnson, you've then got interesting signings in terms of the likes of Chris Martin coming in. "The main thing is you've got Nahki Wells there, he got 18 goals for two clubs, and you've got Diedhiou, so you've got goal scorers in that side. "The big thing they have to change is, I think, the mentality within the squad. "You can't win six games and then lose six games, then win six again. "That has to be a mental thing, so it will be interesting to see what's gone on over the summer to try and change that." https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/dean-ashton-explains-what-dean-4495207
Interesting comments for Holden to contemplate, the team must change the mentality encouraged under Johnston and reverse his fatal flaw of long streaks of results, we have new coaches, we have 5 new players, we have the new head coach and hopefully a different approach, the so called ' Streaky Johnson era' is now over. We will now watch this space
