So we've all debated endlessely hwo baloody awful LFC are right? well there's another club where a bigger disaster might be happening, namely the spuds. this summer they sacked redknapp, appointed AVB and did the following transfers: In: Gylfi Sigurdsson Jan Vertonghen Emmanuel Adebayor Moussa Dembélé Hugo Lloris Clint Dempsey Out: Luka Modric Rafael van der Vaart Niko Kranjcar Vedran Corluka Steven Pienaar they even ended up with 1.7mil in pocket change from ther efforts. But are they now weaker than before? In theory they really should not be given the first 11 when fit but in reality they seem to be on a low ebb don't they? They look shaky at home as they no longer play the same style of bale hitting and hoping, they seem to lakc options upfront like us and thier new manager hasn't fixed the crisis of confidence that stuck last january and saw them go form title challengers to also rans. LFC fans would kill to see those 6 signings yet right now they don't look like a side with either a style of play in their minds or confidence to go win games. Amazing isn't it? this little disaster has been totally overlooked
They are in the same situation as us, in the midst of adapting to a new playing style under a new manager. There is no 'disaster' or media conspiracy to only highlight Liverpool's misfortunes. If anything I'm glad that Boas isn't getting the vile treatment of the English press this season, he's a very talented young manager who needs time, as is Rodgers. What a pointless thread.
When Liverpool are expected to finish 6th and Spuds meant to move forward from getting 4th, they were calling themselves title challengers not so long ago. The main pont is of course, when Liverpool had a similar blip under Rafa it was called disaster by fools like you mate. No one in the media seems to care about Spurs though
if i've managed to snag crumpet with his inane insults i can count this thread as not at all pointless... i for one hope your blood boiled when i dared post a thread... shuffle off to your cave... BBF is quite right nobody really cares about the spuds unless they really do end up in may to be in 7ths... and of course it was all levy wasn't it that signed every rednapp player too so AVB is of course totally blameless for taking the team nowhere cos he's a fine young manager as proven by his steallar cheslea side winning the CL... oh wait... Yes time to laugh at crumpet once again....
I'm glad you picked option d none of the above. kind of like saying if we should just score more than young boys eh? cut to the chase, doesn't matter how you get results just get them.. kind of like how crumpetsteam bribe and cajole refs and the Fa into giving them points... after all.."Results" eh?
That tactic would work and you know it! Yeah, the be-all-and-end-all is results. However... Under Houllier, the football was awful at times but no one cared because we were winning. Under Hodgson, the football was awful but everyone kicked up a stink because we were losing. We are losing just as much under Rodgers but people are supporting him because we play good football and the signs of encouragement are there. So, obviously, results aren't the ultimate thing despite it being a results business. Out of the three you said, I'd say the playing staff are most important. With better players you can play a better style. With better players you are more likely to get better results. confidence comes from playing well and getting results Personally, I like to see us play good football. Although I enjoyed the winning under Houllier and didn't enjoy the games quite so much as I did under Roy Evans or Rafa. Same for last year under Kenny, yes we played decent football at times but we also played some shocking stuff too. I enjoyed the trophy win but most weeks was a ball ache watching us - never missed a minute still as thats part and parcel of being a fan End of the day, the sport is about winning but people also have to remember that it is supposed to be entertainment too. What is the point if you don't enjoy it...?
Erm no. I was always a big fan of Rafa's first and foremost. And also, I don't think Spurs were ever taken seriously as title challengers by anyone. Just like West Brom aren't expected to finish this season in 4th. Half a season does not develop high expectations, history does. That's why Liverpool are scrutinised a bit more closely, because history dictates they are a team who should be at the top. People in the media 'don't care' about Spurs because they haven't done enough to be cared about. I hope that doesn't sound disrespectful to Spurs, I wish them all the best for the season, but they obviously don't have the same expectations as we do in the long term. Don't you see how ridiculously hypocritical this is? Every comment you've just levelled at AVB could easily be given straight back to Rodgers, and yet you advocate giving him time!? Rodgers imploded at Reading, yet did a very good job at Swansea. AVB did a superb job at Porto, but maybe crumbled under the pressure a little bit at Chelsea. You do realise we're still in November!? How can you say 'AVB has taken them nowhere' you stupid cretin. I love Liverpool, I support Rodgers 100% and I believe the future is bright. But supporters like you who are so quick to find something bad to say about anyone or anything really do my nut in. That's why your threads piss me off. There was nothing negative to say about Liverpool or Rodgers this week so you had to have a pointless go at a club in a very similar situation to ours. Also, it's always time to laugh at MITO, seriously do you type with your forehead?
WHAT IF CARRAGHER PLAYS AND SCORED 10 OWN GOALS!!! bang goes that tactic eh? still it might work i suppose... after all its the one the top teams use. anyway... what if roy hodgson was given spain would he make them a better unit? what if spain with all thier players had neil warnock or tony pulis? no but seriously i agree about the football under houllier being a bit dire, specially nearing the end. I think rafa had some awful periods of really poor sterile football but when the league was effectively lost in 2009 there was that period where gerrard and torres etc went for it. i think actually the 3-0 sunderland win at home was one of the forgotten highpoints for entertainment that year... never mind utd away ro real etc. I think confidence and trust affect this as much as the manager cos kenny dalglish is no warnock. he wanted the good football but the likes of downing just wanted to hide. the expectation on sterling when he finally got on a couple of times was like barney gumble being chained just out of reach of a duff beer.. any touch at all was drawing gasps. right now there's some nice football yes but not so much really exciting football as we're not getitng in behind sides. until suarez gets it you can appreciate the interplay but you're not going to be on the edge of your seat are you? I'm hopeing that spurs coninue to suffer from confidence, AVB continues to alienate his striking options while we on the other hand work together and find those couple of players that can push us from nice but ineffective to edge of our seats stuff.
Also, I know you type like a moron and have the opinions of a moron, but I had no idea you were actually a complete and utter moron. (My fault, should have worked that out sooner). I've made it pretty clear in the past that my team is Liverpool. So I have no idea what this comment meant, or which team it referred to, because our luck with referees has been pretty awful this year.
HA!.. i am imaginging crumpet typing with his forehead right now, now me... so funny that i brealy had to try to wind up the guy. insults doing work chump you just look like a tool.
I'll try to spell even worse for you cos i just know when a chump goes there he's boiling..... ah the old bad speeling, gets them everytime... just ignore the little red squiggles and bang... another bite.. Is this too easy, should i feel guilty?
Meh, feel free to carry on. If anything I like having an idiot close at hand to remind myself things could be worse.
if carragher scored ten own goals mate and we score, by inferrence, 1 more... well would the score therefore not be 1-10.. with us scoring more than them but losing? it was only a joke anyway...
