Tweet from the 22nd Dec .... tonyfernandes Tony Fernandes Good chat with neil. I'm pumped. We know what we have to do. Keep the faith. Roll on january. 22 Dec Favorite Retweet Reply Games played since: QPR 1-2 Norwich Arsenal 1-0 QPR Swansea 1-1 QPR A complete reversal in thinking in the space of two weeks just appears highly unlikely. I just think there has to be something more to this than has been said todate. The storyline of the next behind the scenes dvd - I'm liking it already
I agree - I can understand them getting jittery about the results and can understand a conversation was needed - just do not like people being stabbed in the back. I can accept that they had a decision to make and can understand the panic but i can not accept lies..
From what Philip Beard said, NW was aware of what was happening and had been talking for a few days before decision was made. This is why I feel the MK Dons match was a dour affair with very little effort by all involved as the team either were unmotivated due to the news or there had been a falling out between players and the management team. I doubt we will ever know what really happened.
One telling thing for me was Fernandes tweeting, just before Xmas that there was no way Taarabt was going to be sold!! This was almost certainly against the management team's wishes. Think back to Mick Jones saying that Adel was as good as gone!
doesnt sound like he was stabbed in the back...on the contrary reports and statements seem to indicate this was discussed extremely openly by all concerned and NW seemed to accept the logic of the decision more than some people on here............
I am sure it is down to the January Window. TF was not sure that the players that NW wanted were good enough bearing in mind what the prices would be. Or TF had doubts about NWs ability to be successful in the Prem. and therefore didn't want to give him the money. I am very grateful to NW for what he has done for us......but......even I wasn't sure where we were going with tactics/substitutions and where players were on the pitch. I think we lost both times to Norwich because they changed the right things at the right time. Which unfortunately NW never seemed to be able to do, at any time. I think if he had we would have got the win against WBA, wouldn't have lost to Sunderland and would definitely have got a point at Liverpool (if we had played all match like the last 20 mins). Plus a few more points elsewhere. If Mark Hughes does come then I feel we will have a lot more nous about us, and will be able to change the course of matches as and when it is needed. After all that thank you Neil you were brilliant for us, just sad it couldn't continue.
Maybe Col, but Jones said that before Adel came back and played some good football. Neil said only recently he didn't know what would hapen with Adel and i suspect he was telling the truth there, he had seen Adel getting back to form, but didn't know who would bid what for him.
As neither of us were to party to the conversations, i guess its a case of different people and different opinions - it we all agreed there would be nothing to debate. As for accepting the decision more than some people on here - All i can say is some people will believe anything they are told, others like to challenge, debate and form their own view on things.. Regardless to which camp any of us sit in, the ability to discuss and challenge each others views is what makes the debate interesting.
Does it really matter? The guys gone, I feel sad after what he's done for the club but at the same time, I'm excited at the prospect of bringing in a prem league manager.
Just interested in debating - enjoyable seeing the different views Lets see what happens, will certainly keep things on here interesting for a while.
Surprised but not shocked last night when I heard Neil had gone. Really not sure how I felt at the time. Like many I was fairly unhappy when Neil was appointed but was happy to be proven wrong. Last season Neil management on and off the field was extraordinary. He just seemed to say and do the right thing. We would have all been happy with getting to the playoffs and pushing for the PL this year. But against all the odds (and the antics of the goons) he got us up as champions. In marked contrast after a bright start he seemed to lose the plot in front of the cameras and like others I was concerned about the freefall in results and some of the baffling tactics/substitutions. Like others I found myself thinking that maybe he wasn’t up to the PL. Totally accept that TF felt he had a difficult decision that had to be made and, after due consideration and with the best interests of QPR at heart, he has done it in an honest way. Would he have gone if we had thumped Norwich?? Today I feel terrible Neil (and Keith) deserved better from us. He earned the right to buy the players we need to stay up. He earned our loyalty. Who are we to say that he was out of his depth in the PL. Sheffield Utd only went down on goal difference after an extraordinary run by West Ham team fielding illegal players! But I will be back in the Paddocks for the Wigan game cheering on my team. Just feeling a little shame for slipping away from “In Neil we trust!” so easily. Good luck Neil, Keith and Mick in whatever you do next and thank you for everything! PS I wouldn't read the good grace that NW has taken the decision as some sort of acceptance that he should have been sacked - clearly you've never faced the sack/redundancy Canada ( and I hope you never do). PPS Spare me the no room for sentiment in football stuff
Rumours were our targets wouldnt play for Warnock and Warnock "didnt do tactics". Warnock was also going to retire in the summer so why let him blow the money now as he was never a long term option anyway? Once youve lost the motivation, you dont have anything which is what weve seen with the massive regression in our play throughout the season from looking like a mid table side to a L1 side.
