Another talismanic performance from Joe Aribo at Gillingham on Saturday. When he made his impressive debut at Southend away a couple of years ago, I remarked at the time (it was the first time I had seen him play) that there were shades of a young Patrick Viera about him. Two years on, and one broken contract offer later, it is clear that Aribo is too good for League One, and is probably the best midfielder at this level on his day. The only justified criticism of him is that he blows hot and cold, and for someone of his natural ability he takes his time to impose himself on games. If we were promoted to the Championship and the Belgian dickhead broke the habit of a lifetime and made him a sensible contract offer, maybe there is a 20% chance that we will see Joe Aribo next season in a Charlton shirt. The far more likely option is the likes of a Norwich or a Sheff Utd offering him £20,000 a week plus for a four year deal, and Aribo becoming the latest talent to leave our club for next to nothing because of this arsehole. A MOTM performance by Joe Aribo at Wembley might be the best that Charlton fans can now hope for, before he departs.
I've been assuming since January that he will go at the end of the season for nothing, thanks to the owner's brainless handling of Aribo's contract. We are reaching the cliff edge.
I think it's usually £200,000, but we didn't develop him from scratch, I think we've only had him 2 or 3 years, so I don't know how that leaves us.
Oh dear He would be worth over £5m if under contract - a young England talent etc. I am guessing his agent has already talked to a lot of clubs.
I see him more as a young Pogba... He will be capped by Nigeria by next summer and playing in Prem with Crystal Palarse.
His parents are Nigerian and I gather he has been contacted about his availability..... I am sure I read a story in the press about a Palarse Scout watching him.
Apparently from what Bowyer has said is that a number of Clubs are interested. Aribo wants to stay, but I think his agent is advising him to move on. We can't afford to keep on letting our best players go.
I was talking to a Brentford ST holder last week, they are raving about Konsa. He’s their possible POTY. Imagine how much Brentford would sell him on for.
Who said we were privileged to see our yoof playing in the Premier League? Was it Gobbo, the Nightmeire or someone else?
