Reading an article on the BBC website where people give their worst football no-no's. What are your pet hates when you go to a match? For me it's the people who constantly leave 10 minutes before the end to beat the traffic. It just annoys the hell out of me. There are some good suggestions on the article such as fans wearing full kit. Only children under the age of 10 should wear a full kit - it just looks embarrassing on anyone else. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29743332
People don't tend to pee down the terraces any more, so I can't say that one. Haven't really got many, although I do wish the Northam weren't so fixated with Pompey.
Definitely the phone recording from the BBC list. Its the same with every event like concerts etc. Enjoy your time there and get into it rather than film it for future reference/social media evidence. Although Play acting is awful and i wish they would introduce a review panel to hand out bans post match.
If we are talking supporters, its people who insist on standing in all-seat stadia. I wouldn't mind if everyone signed up to do it but how many times to you see the granny, or the child being forced to stand and try to see the game just because other, selfish people insist it is their 'right' to stand. People wo leave early might block your view for a few seconds, these guys do so for the whole match. I don't sit in the 'standing areas' on purpose but at away games I don't have this luxury. My wife is fairly short and really struggles to see the action.
Cheating. Mainly diving and play acting, but also players have to appeal for every throw, goal kick/ corner, It's usually fairly obvious who it came off. It's just obvious dishonesty.
As a referee, I 100% agree. It really pisses me of when a player appeals for something that is blatantly against them.
The genuine hatred and aggression on the faces of some fans when "giving it large" to opposition supporters. I used to sit in the Northam, but sheer number of cocky Danny Dyer wannabe's getting REALLY angry and drawing their fingers across their throats to show "just how hard" they are, even when we are playing a team where there is no historic rivalry, became too much for me... Also, supporters that think it is alright to shout absolutely anything they like at a player, but get filled with impotent rage if that player dares to engage them in any kind of banter.
OMG I'd forgotten about that. Leaving Highbury after that dreadful semi when Everton beat us in the lasst minute - I could not understand why the rain was so isolated.... Nowadays its all seater stadiums that give rise to a new frustration. I don't mind people standing. I don't mind people seated all the time. What does annoy me is the guy who is seated 995 of the time and then stands up as the goal scorer shapes up for the shot blocking my view. By the time i react, stand and peer round, Ive missed it! Oh yeah, and the people who arrive late and similarly block my view while they do high fives to the ten seats around them
Hate the cheating and people arriving late. Don't understand the half and half scarves. Why do I want a scarf with another team on it?
Hate the media....especially when they report on "lucky saints beat an un performing side who were unlucky to concede against a lucky saints team "
Big (fat) people who wear thick coats in winter and take over half your seat. You honestly don't need extra covering.
I sit next to the stairs and the amount of people constantly getting up, coming in late, going down to the concourse early, coming back late again and leaving early means I have to stand up all the time. people need to get over it.
I am going to be positive. The best thing about this season is that the guys who sit behind me have not found a single player to pick on and constantly criticise. I think the thing I dislike most is when a player makes the card gesture to the referee and tries to get another player booked or when players surround the referee for the same reason.
Hmm. I suspect candidates to look out for, in the near future, would be Forster, cause he's fumbled the odd cross. Long, because we paid too much and he hasn't scored yet. And worst of all, Koeman for not picking Rodriguez all season.
People leave early for all sorts of reasons, some years ago my old Dad used to leave 5 mins early. Due to heart problems he couldn't walk very fast and was keen to get back to the car and not hold up the rest of the group who waited until final whistle. Don't suppose it was a lot of fun for him to put with all the tut tutting as he struggled to get out?
