Spicy chicken drumsticks, smashed new potatoes, roast carrots, I have a weakness for peppercorn sauce, so that will be on the veg, might get some green stuff to go with it, probably cabbage

Cooked inside in the end, didn't fancy getting soaked. Did some mashed swede to go alongside the lamb and roasties

Love a good chicken drumstick, especially those done on the bbq. In fact I love all chicken (apart from the dark meat which I just can't get away with).

Was in USA in the summer and almost every place we went to had Buffalo wings on the menu - I'm an absolute sucker for them. Surprised my fingers aren't permanently orange <laugh>

Chilli tonight. Feels like a chilli sort of day.

First fresh habanero of the year from my chilli crop too. Always a test for my good lady :emoticon-0130-devil

Try "Da Bomb - Ground Zero". Don't mix it up with their "Beyond Insanity" one, that's for wimps. Make sure it's Ground Zero.

It was daughters choice and after dining there I won't be back. Not saying the meal was crap although I've had better Bombay potatoes in the Yuvraaj.
I reckon it's the type of place for food snobs, which I certainly ain't!!
As for beer choice, it said Wylam on menu @ £8.50. Expensive I know but wtf,I was expecting a pint, it came in a 330 ml can FFS.
Service charge of 10% also added at end.But I did know that.
    Place was packed at 19.00hrs.
Back to Wetherspoons for me for next meal

As for Akenside Traders £6.90 for a pint of black sheep fffs. I will be back up to Costa del concord on Saturday and paying an average of £2.60ish a pint. Taxi fare £20 home, paid £20 for daughters as well. I kid you not I spent just under £200.Meal was £102.
Not bothered though it will come out of her inheritance!!:emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm

I never ever pay the service charge. Just point blank refuse and they can do sweet FA about it.
I will tip if the service has been good.

Any one who eats anything with a label that says **** the bed (unless it specifically says you won't) deserves to **** the bed upon consumption.

Impossible to change my mind about that.

To be honest I’m getting some just because the label made me titter. If I do defecate in my bed after having some then I guess it would be karma or something

Didn't know that about service charge, tbh although restaurant was busy service was good.I would rather give cash tip to individual waiter if service warrants it

I've got a good receipe/technique for oven baked wings so i can pretend i'm being healthy. Nice and crispy without being deep fried.

Same for homemade KFC Zinger burgers

Mrs. A's starter . . . . Duck & foie gras raviolo, which was duck broth, spring onion, Enoki mushroom, pickled walnuts & chervil

    Mains :
Mine . . . . Lavender & honey glazed wild duck breast, with fricassèe of duck liver (on the right), pancetta & pearl barley wrapped in cabbage, spinach pureè, blackberry, buttered swede & shallot jus, and that small pan of hand cut triple cooked chips
    20241011_200711.jpg
Mrs. A.s . . . . Whole Dover Sole, shallow fried served with caviar cream sauce, saffron potato, fine bean, celeriac & sea vegetables (this one fish/main course was £55 <yikes>)

We had a glass of champers, something to do with calvados (to go with the apple tart, apparently) and a few other drinks (not loads) was all blinking lovely, and a lovely treat for us both . . . . part of our anniversary celebrations :emoticon-0148-yes:

Wife’s at work today, daughter is off out with her friends, lads aren’t playing so I’m baking pies today ! Ham & Egg, Corned Beef and Potato and after watching James Martin last week I’m going to try a chicken and mushroom pie for the 1st time. Special request from the bairn is apple & cinnamon pie, she used to make them with her nanna god bless her, so I’m going to do the prep and wait for her coming home and bake it together. She misses baking with her Nanna and I’ve missed eating it.
