I was going to leave this till tomorrow as feelings are running a little amok at the minute after tonight's performance and result. I'm not having a dig at the manager - there are plenty of others indulging in that. I'm not going to single out any players - I'm sure there are plenty doing that also. All I wanted to say was that tonight was one of the worst games of football I have witnessed live for many a year and as utterly tedious, boring, predictable and ****e as one could ever imagine possible. Never in my most depressing nightmares did I ever think that a MoN team would be so ****ing dire and unbearable to watch as this shower of **** was tonight. The team where absent of thought, presence, ambition, invention and actual ability to play the game as I know it. In this 5 game spell, where I myself said we need a minimum of 10 points, we are now 2 games in and only 1 point to show. We now have Norwich (a); Chelsea and Reading (h) to come and IMO on tonight's performance, we will be lucky to have another 3 points to show for it. 4 points from 15 available and 4 of them at home games will be a disaster. I hate to say it but after tonight, even for a die hard O'Neill fan (and I still want the bloke to succeed more than ever) I have to hold up my hand and say we are well and truly in a relegation scrap right now and I fear for the club at the minute. If we cant attract new faces and quality ones at that in 5 weeks time we may be ****ed by May. I cant defend that shambolic shower of ****e tonight in any shape or form (Rose and Fletcher apart) and have no intention of doing so. Utter ****e.
In fairness, QPR are not a bad side. Factor in the 'Arry factor and it was always going to be hard. This does not excuse previous matches but it explains tonight. Trust me, not everything is bleak. I saw a bit of passion and some good set plays which is more than can be said for my lot. You badly missed Cattermole tonight and I finally saw why you all don't rate Colback. What has happened to him?
QWOP, They were appalling, the worst side I have seen at the SOL in 5 seasons. We were so ****ing slow with the ball it was painful. The only positive is that I have now seen a team in the Premier League worse than us, in he flesh. It was just horrific.
It's starting to remind me (hate to say it...) of the Mag's relegation season... Good team on paper - check. Proven PL players - check. Good PL manager - check. ...I'm really confused as I can't put my finger on why it's happening. Last December, Jan and Feb, up until our FA cup exit, we were looking every bit like we could mount a challenge for top 8/Europe. We had a good blend of PL experience and exciting young prospects (Colback, McClean - even Ji got the winner against the champions-elect). Nothing has changed - except we've added Fletcher (who's been our best player so far) and Johnson (who hasn't). I think the fact that I have no idea why is the scariest part for me. I want to see Vaughan, Bramble and Wickham/Ji given some game time though..
QWOP QPR were utter garbage as much as us! They will be relegated IMO. The fact that at timeas we made them look good is both worrying and depressing. Posted a similar thread to Cest, all though I pretty much slagged everybody off! O'Neill MUST change that hapless formation or sadly O'Neill must go and I have defended him to the hilt on here! It's as bad as I've seen Sunderland play in a very long time!
Whickham was injured on Sat morning and may be out a while mate. No doubt Catts is ou for 4-6 weeks. Vaughan is utterly pointless. We are in the deepest ****, and we need to start praying, 21 of the last 24 games we have been absolutely awful, and that is beyond worrying, it's terrifying.
When Cattermole went off my heart sank as I felt we had lost our driving force. We so desparately need more class in midfield to provide a spark of inspiration and variation. QPR were way worse than us but our lack of commitment made them look even reasonable.
Im really starting to question whether MoN is the right man for the job. Every man and his dog could see that we simply couldnt win that game with Larsson and Colback treading on our centre backs toes. Hill and Nelson must be the slowest centre back partnership in the league, apart from Johnson how.many times did we play a ball in behind? Substitutions and tactics are the reason we didn't win tonight and that's down to the manager.
Pfffft. Small town in Yorkshire full of six fingered idiots. They can keep their opinion to themselves.
Its time to start and face reality. 13 points in 13 games. Bruce was sacked for having 11 points in 14 games. It doesn't take Carol Vorderman to work the maths out does it? Managers require time but during that time there has to be progress. What I witnessed this evening was worse than under Bruce. That's a hard reality for me to accept but it cant be dressed up any other way. **** it tonight has been a hard night.
****ing hell mate, this is a big problem, there is not a CM at the club that I rate, or fancy to influence a game.
My 74 year old mother would be more effective than Larsson and Colback were tonight. Recall David Meyler imo.
She's probably quicker as well, for me Colback has gone backwards from last year! Meyler must be recalled.
