With 3 or 4 more expected in the next couple of days but everything silent on the rumour front what are our expectations for deadline day? I never thought I'd be saying this but I hope we keep hold of Barton and it would be mad to let Hoilett go. Harry has promised more tried and trusted players so I guess we can expect our British contingent to increase further. Another striker is a must and I still think he'll make a bid for Crouchie but who knows.
Baird is one that won't happen on deadline day. He is a free agent and will sign for us after the window closes if no-one else makes him a better offer.
What am I expecting? I'm expecting to get annoyed with Jim "Mr Shouty" White on SSN. Lots of outside broadcasts with kids from all over the country trying to win the prize for the most Chavs leering at a camera. Loads of "We're expecting him to appear through that door in a moment ..." and "Well, nothing has happened yet, but if it does we'll come right back". Flyer to find fault with anyone we do sign. Harry to do an interview through his car window. ... and hopefully a few good players to bolster the squad.
Not wanting to make the same mistakes as before (The Welsh Donkey), I think that we should use the positive start to get some PL quality in, Defoe, Townsend, Rooney (only joking), players that will be a part of the team that start next season.
I don't think 3 or 4 will be signed max 2 new signings and over the international break I would expect 2 loans to come.
I expect Arsenal supporters to be disappointed, the usual spin of shopping at Waitrose while Wenger pops in to Lidl!
Not sure who, but someone said that being an Arsenal fan on deadline day is like being in detention at school and seeing all the other kids playing outside.
A late night and a couple of pensioners. Hope for a creative midfield player, a striker who scores in Hoops and a quick smart CB, plus zero outgoing.
I am hoping the only ones out the door are Cesar and Traore... As for players coming in, I really don't want to upset the apple cart, if its not broken... I'd like to see a couple of young lads come in, ones who won't get the hump sitting on the bench and then when they are given the chance will give 100% to prove themselves. LB keeps being touted as a problem area but I think we have quality there, not just Suk but also Magri, I'd like to see him play at this level. I'd like to see Townsend and as we are a Championship side it might help as I don't think Levy would want him to go to another Premiership side. As for strikers, I hope we don't go in for Crouch but as Harry likes having a 'big man' up front and Zamora seems lost at the moment, this may happen. All in all I think we are in a good place, depth is what we needs as its a long season in the Championship, there will be injuries that we need to cope with but there are utility players in the squad for many of the positions. Onwards and Upwards...
