If Leeds United are the last great football franchise in English football, ripe for investment and with GFH apparently appearing "to have little financial fire power to complete the deal, accounts of its Bahrain parent firm Gulf Finance House show" - then why aren't many other suitors lining up to take over the club? Could the price be an issue or are the many mysterious 'Leeds United' companies encompassing our club the issue putting off investors?
GFH don't have financial restrictions. They don't hold money in hand, no one does. Worth in what they own has just gone down because of the financial issues of the world and they expect it to pick back up. Firstly, I trust David Haigh's comments about they have the money but due to confidentiality statements, they are unable to say how or where. I doubt thats the reason that there is a delay anyway. Bates has said he won't speak to people until they reveal a proof of funds and they obviously have given proof
The issue is how many fingers they have left after they shake the seller's hand. Roman can tell them not to expect too many.
There have been potential buyers around for the last 2-years, and each time Bates has alienated them, and when its found out that someones been knocking on his door, he just ridicules them and says 'they were just fishing and had no money'. The amount of due diligence required to unravel the web and all the offshore ltd companies, is a huge risk. The potential future problems that could come out of the woodwork, will put many off. Bates thinks he's clever, and to be fair he's managed to get away with it so far, but even if I had the money I wouldn't deal with him. If its true that the people who had exclusivity have walked away, why have they walked? Bates is the problem, his shady backers are another problem, who owns the remaining 29% of the shares, who owns ER & TA, where did the money go .....
Fans not kicking up enough of a fuss, joining the trust, protesting and generally making Bates' life hell to drive him out and drive the club to success. Apathetic fans have to take some portion of the blame. Not the main reason - that's Bates and GFH with their respective inadequacies and complications - but a reason nonetheless.
Are you calling me 666? I'm confused. Am I the Devil now or something? There's another poster, Sheldon, who used to be called Elmo/666, but that's someone else, who I've had my disagreements with in the past. I used to post as Loiner/Jerel Ifil, for your information. Anyway, I'm here to discuss, not insult (unlike you). Do you think fans of even the cities we're twinned with's teams - Lille, Dortmund, Brno - would have let Bates get away with his poison for seven and half years? I don't.
Mods can verify I'm using the same IP, if you really want proof of it. I'd have had a lot of arguments with myself if I were Sheldon/Elmo/666.
All I can say is am sorry, that why I was abusing you, because ive know 666 along time, and was sure it was you. I feel a right tit
Wakey. I do feel you have done me a bit of a disservice. Although I am prone to a little ****wit-ness from time to time, you are prone to it more than most Regarding Jerel - he's just young, confused, ****ed up and witless - you missed out a few letters
Not if you're saying fans are to blame just because they didn't join LUST. Many, myself included, liked the idea of LUST when it started, but were then put off by some of the things they have said in the press and the way they've gone about things. LUST represent 8,000 fans apparently, but I wonder how many of these 8,000 are actually going to games? Around 13,000 ST if I remember correctly, who are the life and soul of Elland Road across a season - how many of these are LUST members? By turning up to Elland Road and joining in the Bates Out chants, the fans are showing they're against Bates. LUST was a good idea that has been ruined by biased, unintelligent statements.
That should read Were you trying to be funny (it didn't come across that way) or was it meant to be a serious insult? And you didn't really apologise - you merely stated that you said the words to the wrong person. You still thought he was a bitter and twisted ****wit. Out with the truth, laddie.
