I had a phone call from my builder yesterday, he is a season ticket holder for QPR and was arranging a family trip to the Valley on Saturday but by the time he got answers from the 8 people he was bringing, the away tickets were sold out. He phoned me to see if I was going and to see if he could tag along in the home end. He is an absolute diamond and would never cause any problems, so basically I am taking him on Saturday. There was me thinking that getting tickets on-line would be no problem, Redcard holder of a gazillion years and a Valley Gold member but....... I had not taken into account our website.. Firstly I looked for the 'QPR tickets now on sale' article ........... but no.... no such article exists Secondly I went to the Tickets section..... buy on-line section.... it seems this section has no idea we are playing QPR on Saturday! Finally I went to the 'Fixtures' section..... yes we are playing QPR on Saturday and it has a buy tickets button............. but this takes me back to the buy tickets on-line section which has no idea we are playing QPR on Saturday So it seems I either pay the extra (phone charges and fee) to buy tickets over the phone or I go to the Valley on Friday to buy them in person. What superb customer service from our website. AllHell PS It also seems with the season due to begin next week for the U18's it is far too much trouble for the website to update the U18 fixture list to reflect the 2015-16 season ....
I hear you. The website is bloody terrible. I work in that industry and they have good social, content and links, but bloody awful eCommerce functionality. I tried to buy West Ham tickets from it, after clicking around on 20 different sections. Only to find out that my previous login was no longer valid, and when ordering more than 2 tickets you need another Red Card member. I gave up and rung up, it's like they want you to do this. If Amazon ran it this way, they'd be bankrupt.
The fact of the matter is QPR sold out within an hour of their allocation going on sale so as a precaution Charlton removed the match from the ticket section on the OS to prevent QPR fans buying tickets in the home ends. I hope that's acceptable to you.
wasn't that why they introduced the two week? (Month?) monitorium on buying tickets after a new Redcard has been issued, because a lot of Millwall fans were applying for Redcards just to get Valley tickets. Yet if you phone up they will sell you a ticket no problem..... but I guess you have to answer the tricky question "You are a Charlton fan aren't you?" correctly Obviously if you are a QPR fan you will accidently say "no"
I nearly smashed my iPad trying to buy West Ham tickets online. I still have major gripes with the awful standard of writing too.
You think that's bad?Try ordering from Eckman Garden supplies. I ordered an item which turned out to be faulty, so I asked them to collect it, I waited in all day and they never came. Same again except this time they came. Only trouble is I didn't get a refund and they have just sent me an e-mail to say they are sending a replacement. This has cost me £40 in phone calls to their 0844 number. They don't respond to e-mails, so I am having to get my credit card to chase up the refund since last time I called them I waited 50 minutes for them to reply! I have also complained to Gardeners' World who advertise their products. What else can I do? I usually order extra tickets by phone, and you have to sit through all the ticket information before you get the chance to buy a ticket. These premium phone lines are legalised robbery.
Then why not add a note to that effect on the website to stop people wasting their time? There is no excuse for the sloppy way the website and Player are presented. It may take a skilled professional to set up the initial website, but once that has been done routine updates and additions should be able to be done by anyone with minimal keyboard skills. The site is a visual mess anyway. Too many competing areas and routes to information instead of a clear hierarchy of data. And basic information is unclear or missing (especially about non-First Team players and activities). Let me help you out. Joe Gomez is no longer a Charlton player, and the last match we played was not against Chievo Verona.
The website has never been the same since the magnificent Your Poisonous Views section was taken down I used to feature prominently
It's the same if you want a visa to travel to the United States. You get asked dificult stuff like 'are you planning to engage in criminal activity while in the USA', and I can see how that would thin out a lot of terrorists and bank robbers, who don't notice it's a trick question. Clever buggers, the US border services.
I always use this handy site... http://www.saynoto0870.com/search.php They have local numbers published for all 0844, 0870, etc., numbers so you don't spend loads.
You are lucky I came back and persuaded at least 4 others to. Behave yourself from now on, else it's back to single figures Paul
More crap on the OS. Have they no self-respect at all?: " ...a very young Charlton side booked their place in the second round of the Capital One Cup with a 4-1 victory over Peterborough United on Tuesday night." All that effort for nothing! We are still in the same round! Meanwhile the caption for Player records the final score as 1-3.
The BBC website is not much better. They have just announced that Simon Church of Charlton is included in the Wales squad.
