just been watching Serbia v Albania turn into a riot, Ben Flower punching someone in the face while they were knocked out, Ched Evans, the Rapo wants his job back, Oscar pistorious shooting the hottest girl in Africa, the Grand Prix crash, Raheem Sterling making a mockery of the England shirt and now Simon Church is out for three weeks. When will sport be something that is just a sport?
Can someone tell why the PFA is trying to support RAPO Ched Evans in getting his job back? I wonder if John Terry got a guilty verdict they would have done the same thing?
It's disgusting. In no other walk of life would someone be able to walk back in to the profession they were in as freely as Evans will be able to. And don't kid yourself thinking because he's been free a month and hasn't got a club that his agent wouldn't have been taking calls - clubs are just waiting for the initial heat to cool down before offers are made.
I can honestly say that I would not go to see CAFC if he signed for us. If of course his money does get him a review of his trial- I would think no differently. Some things are more precious to me than watching a RAPO kick a ball about.
I think 99.9% of Charlton fans would agree with you there. The video he released was plain disturbing - he genuinely has no remorse and speaks as if he is a victim. As you point out, why the PFA are going so far out of their way to assist him is beyond me. Is it at a players discretion whether they join the PFA?
The stance here by the PFA unlike FIFA is that they are trying to marry up the laws of the land with public feeling and making a complete pigs ear of it. They are flexing their muscles for a most obscene cause and once again they have chosen the wrong flag. If a DR raped a patient would the BMA let him loose on the public again? Would the cops allow back a rapist? of course not. This guy is a psychopath and publically displaying all the symptoms of one (lack of morality, turntabled victim, no remorse, public campaigning not on the law, but the morals of the girl involved) The PFA have a duty to the morals standard of the game and to protect its product. If 30% of woman watch football and 99% of CAFC fans would boycott games involving Rapist Evans- then it seems a no brainer to me. Let him get a job amongst proper people and see how they treat him. I would happily piss in Ched Evans face.
Okay while I disagree, I can sort of see the arguement that having served his sentance, you can't take away a persons livelihood. But that's as far as I go here. By playing for a profesional football club, Ched Evans raises his profile sky high, and the truth is that footballers are often seen as role models for youngsters. The idea of this person as a role model, when he is guilty of rape, defies belief. As has already been stated, other walks of life would not permit this, and the PFA, by pushing this so hard, run the risk of gaining the same sort of credibility that FIFA currently bask in. Sorry Ched, if you want to be a footballer, go do it abroad where no one knows you.
I have deleted my account on the ITTV forum because of what a certain poster has posted on their Evans thread. I don't want to be associated with a forum that posts such views. Someone very close to me was raped a number of years ago and it still haunts her to this day. It has totally changed her as a person. It is a very emotive subject for me and I can't believe some of the views expressed on other forums. Luckily this forum has posters who have got more than two brain cells to rub together. I totally agree with Supers and Typicals views. Bravo also to people like Jessica Ennis who has thrown her hat into the ring.
On ITTV, it looks like Reams has overstepped the mark this time on rape. As for Ched Evans, there are some professions where even after you have been convicted and served your sentence, you cannot return to your ex profession. A cabbie drink driving. A teacher fiddling with kids. I would suggest a footballer convicted of rape also fits into that category.
