There's me saying last week that Clegg had finally earned some brownie points by getting the deal for Chambers done and dusted. Now this week we are in the situation of only having 1 goal keeper on our books and no sign of any additions! Why is it so bloody hard to get players in especially in arguably the most important position in the team! Why is it always so bloody hard to be a Town supporter. We have got no back up for ALB at all on this trip to Holland so if he gets injured we will have to borrow a keeper from the opposition! **** me it's like jumpers for goal posts! http://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich...borrow_a_local_keeper_on_dutch_tour_1_1447393
Yeah I know mate! It aint good at all. I thought after last week we had turned the corner with transfers and that a new keeper would be signed ahead of the Holland tour! How wrong I was....
Don't worry about it how often does a keeper get injured anyway........ They should have taken Wright IMO..............
what difference does it make? Ziltch. Do you think anyone would have cared if this had happened in 1980? So what if Cody Cropper had gone? What difference would that have made to our chances next season? Worry about what's important not bloody local press sensationalism.
That's right boys you just carry on burying your heads in the sand! In case it escaped your notice we are supposed to be a professional football club! My son's U16's have recently played a series of friendly matches and even they made sure that they had a back up keeper!
I'm pretty sure we've done this before on other tours, as long as we sign another goalie in the next three weeks I'm not too bothered. Our defense will only really get used to the new goalie in competitive games anyway.
If we come back from this tour without conceeding and ALB ensured that with some world class goalkeeping... we'll still be searching for a goalkeeper. If we come back from this tour losing every game due to goalkeeping blunders... we'll still be searching for a goalkeeper.
Quite right Mr Holmes. We will struggle to get a great goalkeeper and consistency is far more important. We could do far worse than ALB who has often shone between the sticks.
same thing that happens if he gets injured in general pre-season training. the hunt for a goalie continues. this could turn out to be a novel way of scouting out some dutch keeping talent...
If he got injured Carra I'd be more concerned with whether he'd be fit for the season than whether we borrowed a goalie for a friendly.
I hear you, but I can't imagine that any club would have one goalkeeper to choose from with three weeks until the season starts. By the sounds of it, you haven't even got anybody lined up!
I think we probably have a couple lined up, wherever they sign is another story. Lets be honest there's going to be a list of targets for pretty much every position. Like I said, not overly concerned yet but in a few weeks I will be
The other thing that would concern me is (assuming ALB is not going to be your number 1) your defence will need at least a couple of games to gel with their new 'keeper, or is this not really a concern?
