Well, now im over the dissapointment of finishing below the Mackems, I'd just like to say..WHAT A SEASON. I know, it didnt finish with european football like other seasons have. I know, we finished below the Mackems. I know, Hughton got sacked, I know, our new 'hero' so to speak left us with hours left of the January transfer window. I know, we lost to Blackpool, I know we got thrashed by Bolton and I know, most dissapointingly Kuqi didnt get to do a bellyflop. But for my money this has to be greatest Premier League season for our club. What with our expectations being so low. Being written off after losing 3-0 to Man utd, and also having a thin squad. The team have not only suprised the expectations of everyone in the country. But also, our own expectations. We knew we had a capable team. But did we really think we'd beat Sunderland 5-1, Villa 6-0, Arsenal 1-0 and draw 4-4 with Arsenal? No, I dont think even the most deluded fan would have predicted that! I dont really know the point of this thread. I'm just so bloody proud of this team. And I cant wait for next season to get started. HOWAY THE LADS!
Got to be positive. I said I would take 17th and we finish 12th great result. We took 4 points off the Mackems great result We played in one of the best comebacks against Arsenal great result. Let the Mackems have their day, they are above us by 1 point and no Europe, they have had a cracking season.
In our last 3 prem campaigns we failed to score 4 or more at SJP. This season we did it 5 times. Says it all really.
We won 6 drew 8, yes its our highest points tally for 5 years but still a tad disappointed having spent most of the season in the top half.
great season not overly disappointed with the mackems finishing above us as i expected it the funny thing is how much they finished above us well done the lads expected 17th and a dog fight got 12th and could of been so much more but for circumstances (but everyone can say that). over the moon........roll on next season
Took me an hour or so after todays result to get some perspective. But yes 12th and 46 points is a brilliant achievement for our first season back. With a promising manager, the right noises being made regarding money for the summer and an ever growing pool of young talent ready to make the step up from the reserves, the future is looking bright. Roll on next season indeed!
You forgot to mention played Chelsea 3 times, twice at the Bridge and still remained unbeaten against them
All those goals without our most creative player (HBA) and without a half decent Striker (according to the other clubs) It better be at least this fun next year
