What a scrap for 4th, so far!

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by Hoddle is a god, Nov 10, 2012.

  1. Everton, WBA, us, Arsenal, Fulham - and the Toon, if they win, tomorrow.

What's encouraging about the Gooners, though, this season is that even though we're not doing as well as we should be doing, they are helping us out with their dodgy defending <ok>

Clarke's done a fantastic job for West Brom so far.
Maybe Liverpool would've been better off promoting him, rather than bringing in Rodgers?

We need to get something out of tomorrow's game.
An unlikely win would make things very congested and very interesting, too.

  4. I hope AVB puts us out with two up front. If he doesn't, I will have no faith in him.

I can tell you right now that he won't.
To be fair though, you've never had any faith in him, anyway.

  6. That's probably true, PNP. Although, in my defence, I want to have faith in, I really do.

4th is between us and Arsenal, the rest will fade away.

Why aim for fourth, look what happened last year. I'd aim for third if I were you.

    Shearer reckons it'll be Everton.

I don't know why pundits make predictions at this stage. It's far too early. Everton haven't got the squad depth IMO.

Lets hope the top 3 don't pull away. Well, not too early anyway.

Footballs a strange old game. Mixed results all round so far. It wouldn't surprise me if we got an away win today. There's been some unexpected results this season and city are off form.

    Recipe for a cracking game.

If you take into account that Spurs and Arsenal are there or there abouts while playing below their best and Everton & WBA are there while playing at their best you can see that it's very much open to change.

Just because Everton have started well but usually finish well it does not follow that they will maintain their form throughout the season, infact that's very unlikely. In the same way you would expect Spurs and Arsenal to hit purple patches at some time.

Far too early to say. A lot could depend on January and who brings in who or loses who. Fellaini is being constantly linked with other teams and would be a huge loss for Everton. Neither WBA or Everton have the financial clout to strengthen their squads as much as Spurs, Arsenal or even Newcastle. Rumblings from the Emirates (and that's not the dodgy half time pies) that Wenger wants to splash the cash and I'm sure AVB would want to bring in a striker and/or have another go to get Moutinho. As long as Spurs, Arsenal and Newcastle are in touch with 3rd/4th by the close of the window it will be a tight dash for the Champions league places but only one of those will probably get it.

There's a snowballs chance in hell of Liverpool finishing fourth, I hope we finish eighth to avoid the bloody Europa league.

  13. Correct.

8th would be a good finish for you. Well, top half of the table would be good.

Unbelievable how far the PL has fallen when WBA and Fulham (with all due respect) are realistic contenders for 4th. Still though loads of teams must fancy their chances. Chelsea lose today and 3rd opens up as well

Didn't Blackpool start well and end up going down?

Can't see Chelsea being drawn into it this season. Might be a bit of a gap between 3rd and 4th.
Their racist is currently having a far better game than Liverpool's, too.

I'm banking on AVB to **** it up for you like Redknapp did last season <ok>

  18. Hm. Unfortunately, you cannot bank on RVP getting you into the top 4 this season, all by himself. You might actually have to start learning how defend.

    Everton 100%

People are writing them off and aren't giving them the credit they deserve.

They are where they are on merit not by accident and have been playing some of the best football in the league.

They have money for January left too.

Pains me to say it as a Red but I'd put money on them getting 4th can just tell.

fairplay to them if they do, but football is a long season. if they get injury problems, they'll be the 1 side competing who will feel it the most.
