So Allen is not planned for the middle (unless we fail to sign any one). Rodgers wants a wide forward. This is probably why we didnt sign Erikson. Maybe Rodgers saw Coutinho on the left with Erikson central, but he discovered that Coutinho is better. So Costa decided against a move. Who next? That make sense and guess a bit of the way to explaining Eriksen too (I'd have still gone for him, let them interchange) Loving the fact that BR has acknowledged Ford's central role
"There's money there available to get in the right types of players, but we don't want to panic and just bring in anyone. It has to be someone who can come in and improve the team." Expanding on his plans for Coutinho, Rodgers continued: "No question, Coutinho's best position is the No.10. "And once we get the right kind of quality to put on the sides, he will play in that central role. That is where he affects the game best. "At the moment, he has the licence to jump in and come inside - joining in and making passes, and we accommodate defensively when he does that. "But there is no doubt, his best position is in the middle." Lots of sense coming from LFC I just hope their work translates into actual quality signings.
If we can get a good goal scorer in the LF role we could bang the goals in. With Aspas on the right and Sturridge or Suarez central. Coutinho and Gerrard providing world class forward passes to them.
Rodgers is pretty good at saying the right stuff in interviews and to the press. Unlike our last three managers.
We've got two already and both can play from the right too...Suarez and Sturridge! Hopefully, Aspas, Sterling and Ibe can join them too. We need a goalscorer IMO
Who though? Realistically without naming a bunch of 'unheard ofs' that have done ok last season. #Bluff
The unspoken part of JH's statement was that we needed him to underwrite money now for transfers even with Suarez staying. The focus of the team has to shift and that is going to cost more than I'm sure the club was planning. With Rodgers statement about money being available then I feel more confident that whilst we are not going to 'splash the cash', we will be looking to make a few quality signings before the window closes
Wouldn't a statement saying we have money be better suited to wanting to sell players? When looking to buy, the last thing you want to say is this.
If you really want me to say Neymar again I can but there's not much debate in that now he's gone to Barca is there? Carlton Cole...?
Like all statements you have to define who the target audience is. On this occasion Rodgers is signalling to the fans that the Suarez issue will not effect purchasing power should quality targets become available - neither will their purchase be contingent upon sales.
True but then, the fans shouldn't be the target audience when it comes to transfers. The number one priority is price and the club should do everything within their power to get the best price whether they are buying or selling. The fans will find out whats going to happen when it actually happens. Sure, that is frustrating for us sitting in the wilderness but I'm sure we'd all prefer to see the club get more for the money / players
I think the plan is to say that we will, or we won't, get our targets for footballing reasons and that cash is not the issue. Therefore, we are able to make the deals that we want to make irrespective of Suarez going or staying. Not only that be that we are a club who is increasing the quality of its playing staff.
Yeah, again, I understand that, it just frustrates me when the club talks about money because there are always two sides to this; unless we have bought/sold all we plan to and will only be buying/selling from now on, can't see this being the case for us as I think we'll see players going both ways before the window closes.
Perhaps they're trying to head off at the pass the "you'll have to sell to buy" merchants. But I do agree, I get the feeling that movement is going to become frenetic over the next few weeks - but probably Suarez, Bale and Rooney will be going nowhere.
