Finally, after year's of constantly falling down the leagues and mid-table mediocrity since i started supporting CAFC on our last season in the prem, we finally win something, and my fellow supporters can stop saying that i was the jinx that was causing us to lose all the time YIPPIE!
Haysey I too started supporting Charlton on the year of our relegation from the Premiership, and then my first season ticket was the relegation from the championship. So likely I was the biggest jinx of them all but not anymore
Carrian, i was exactly the same, it's good that not only are we out of this league, breaking records left right and center but also breaking jinx's...is there nothing CP can't do???
I was there in 2000 when we lifted the Championship trophy and I'll be there on May 5th when we lift the League One trophy and second time around it has been so much more special. After the last 6-7 years we've been on a slicky slope all the way down to 13th in League One, we've seen some dross play in the colours of Charlton Athletic yet the good times are back.... LETS PAR-TAY
I'm on the champagne right now. Jinx nothing. To appreciate this moment, you have to have endured what we've gone through as fans, so you 'just started supporting Charlton and down they went' fans can be happy to see the other side of the coin. We deserve this moment, and so do you! Lots of the prem fans bailed out in the championship, and some of them saw us in the Prem for a while. This is for all of us who remember the relegations, the wretched home defeats in tier three, Parky and above all, Pardew and his post match interviews!!! The Reds are going up!
Fine words, Rocky. You guys were a credit to your club today with superb support and a magnificent gesture of applause for us at the end. I hope you do stay up and build on the undoubted talent that you have at your club. Good luck!
Oh hey, I had this exact conversation with somebody earlier...I only started regularly going in our last prem season. However, since moving to coventry university Charlton have not been relegated..and instead Coventry have been. I can safely say, that I am indeed the jinx.
I was at the Poly in Newcastle. Great place, and I saw Charlton beat Newcastle three times and Middlesbro once while I was there, including the famous 4-3 win when we were 3-0 down before half time, surrounded by lairy little geordie youths saying rude things. Yesterday was fabulous, but doing the conga in the Leazes Lane end after scoring four goals was quite special.
As satisfying as it would be to see Pardew relegated...I don't think I could tolerate being that far North. They're insane up there :/
