Cheers secret, I enjoyed that. I fancy moving to warmer climes when I retire but I do wonder how I would manage not going to see the R's. How are the lads on here coping abroad that were once regulars at LR?
I'm full of admiration for our overseas Rs who retain the passion and energy. To be honest in the two periods that I lived abroad I always checked the results, but felt very detached, found alternatives to watch live football and also played a lot. Mind you that was in the days before the interweb, live streams etc. but seeing the team play live is still the pinnacle for me, I find my attention drifting even through the live televised games, unless I'm in a pub with fellow Rs ( rare in Leamington Spa...). Obviously a social experience for me.
WHen you grow up in London supporting Rangers it is in your blood. I moved to USA for work purposes but have never lost the passion for QPR. In the mid 60"s and the 70'S I rarely missed any games home or away. That included all the games in our European year. I manage to get back to HQ a few times a year and now with more games on TV it's not too bad.
Have to say that without the internet it would be very difficult to follow the R's - try picking up radio 5 live sitting in the car a few times during our championship season is not really the same!!! Still roll on next week, first time to LR since we hit Barnsley for 5 the season prior to promotion.....looking forward to it.....be nice to put 5 past the saints....he said hopefully.
I'm really looking foward to going back to Loftus Road when I'm in England October next year, I'm just praying we're still in the Premiership! Would be just my luck to have watched 2 seasons in the prem from Peru to get back for a visit and us be in the championship again! I remember on my last visit in 2010 going to Bramall Lane with my dad who's a Blade and seeing us win 3 0 and thinking this is the start of something special. I wish we could just get started this season, maybe at Stoke on Saturday, come on you Rsssssssssssssssss
I lived in Spain for 4 years between 1999-2003 after I had lived in London for 14 years and went to every home game and quite a few away ones too. I was like a drug addict without my fix. I was completely lost every Saturday. I used to go to Irish/English pubs in Spain to try to catch the scores or results. I will never swop living in the sunshine for the thrill of going to see regular matches. Never.
Pretty much what nines said Id also like to move abroad when I'm at bit older, or even a work stint in the states. Goes without saying I would miss match days and going to the games
