Looking over on the main site Del says he is no further forward regards Cisse, says he spoke with his agent but no real response, still not sure regards his intentions.

    Still waiting on Keogh.

Christ forget them both, let's move on and bring players in that want to play for Bristol City.

What has it come to.waiting on players to show their hands.

I say look elsewhere Del boy, there are plenty that we have missed, and plenty that are available.

For some reason I haven't posted here much in the off-season, which maybe reflects the lack of transfer action from us.

But upon seeing a needlessly defeatist and absurdly negative thread title from you Red Robin, I've been comforted to know some things don't change.

hardley makes us a "laughing stock" does it,

i'm sure you'll make a thread about panic buying sooner rather than later when we start picking up more and more players

Some guy claiming to work for City just posted the following on otib regarding players we've enquired about...

"As you know Del has had a busy summer trying to recruit with mixed success, but there have been lots of enquiries and players offered to Del in positions he is interested in strengthening.

Obviously City have signed Cunningham and he Was ALWAYS Dels first choice, Paul Robison from Bolton, Halford from Pompey and Naylor from Cardiff all had agents contact del, but Del always wanted Cunningham.

Amougou wasnt really considered as a long term option from Del, Keogh has always been his first choice and these talks with Cov are still ongoing with Anthony Gerrard also being strongly considered as another option. Steven McManus talks hardly got going, City can't afford his wages and he is also considering a move abroad. Other players who city have enquirer about were Shackell (faced stiff competition and pricey), Hird, Morrison and considered, but decided against Alex Bruce.....amongst others.

Boaz Myhill is Dels first choice goalkeeper, and we are waiting on it but face competition from Ipswich who have enquired since missing out on Hull new keeper, Another keeper City are considering is Tom Heaton, but without question Myhill is top of Dels tree. City also shown an interested in Pernis as a backup option, but chances are he will get snapped up.

Del isnt focusing on thE CM position, not enquiring or has any serious interest in anyone else, those thinking Buzasky since he has been released but well out of City's range......Del is looking around for a RM with Swansea seriously considering a bid for Albert.....told that he has his eyes on Feeney from Millwall if that Albert Deal goes through, again there are others as well I dot know about.

I know citys first choice was Leon Best but quickly became clear he was WELL out of our range, other players who Del has scouted towards then end of last season were McLeod from Barnet and Hume from Preston, Mcleon option wont happen but Hume is still an option.

City enquired about Ross McCormack but out of our price range, linked with Palace but wouldn't be suprised if he went to Leicester or Forest....., but he is the "type" of striker Del is looking for....also considered Conor Salmon but not the type he is looking for. Plenty of agents forwarding details to City, including Clinton Morrison!!

I know of about 50 players who have had details forwarded to City, and up to 20 odd that we have enquired in.

    Any questions just ask."

So it would appear things are indeed happening behind the scenes regarding players coming in as well as the negotiations with Cisse and Keogh. Don't panic unless it's the first game of the season and noone else new has come in.

This is a pretty good piece from someone,if true then lots going on behind the scenes,How true this is,i must say have not got a clue.

It just seems as if we are following the same lines as years gone by,panic buys and players that don't bring anything better to the pitch than we had previous.

But waiting around for two players in Keogh and Cisse, sorry my opinion regards this is why.

If anyone can justify this, then please explain why.

Keogh is Coventry's player, they are holding out for a fee that Del does not want to pay, but is playing the game not being taken for a fool.
Cisse he let him seek options else where, has now spoken to him to see if he has reconsidered his option.

Why does that make us the laughing stock?

I admire your passion Red Robin but you are always starting negative threads, it's like you still have a agenda with the manager.

All I see is a manager that won't pay over what he feels is a player is worth. Won't be rushed into a decision.

I asked you on another thread who you would sell out of our starting 11 you said none. So if that's the case you would only want fringe players so why worry?

Well RR, you have excelled yourself this time. Now, lets consider....

Players are in demand, they have options and in addition, they have a limited lifespan to earn the bulk of the money that has to last them THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. We've been through all this before yet you still seem to think that any player that doesn't instantly fall on their knees and kiss the Atyeo corner stone should be immediately ****ed out the door...

In any other walk of life, if you were good at your job and got 2 or 3 offers from people who wanted your services, YOU WOULD TAKE SOME TIME TO CONSIDER YOUR OPTIONS - IN ANY OTHER JOB, this would be considered a very sensible approach to an important decision affecting your future.

If it was you RR and someone was pressuring you into making a decision before you were ready, I am quite sure that you would tell them to **** off so tell me, which part of this don't you get - yet when it comes to football, you still seem to think that this is unacceptable...

In short, this sort of thinking is frankly nothing short of ****ing moronic....

Can't understand how we have become a laughing stock as redrobin states as I think we finally have someone with common sense and sound decision making at the helm. Any idiot can go out and blow the budget on players who think they are better than they actually are, but it takes a shrewd manager to weigh up all the options and spend the money wisely. If a player is asking for too high a salary then they are certainly not interested in staying long term and I believe that Derek is wise to that scenario and will only look at new players that fit his mould and not their own greedy agenda.

    Good on you Derek.

I have no problem with players, looking for the best deal, what I do have concerns with is this Molly coddling to cisse and Keogh.

Remember these guys earn more in a month than the majority of posters on here earn in year.

I'm very aware Del has in fingers in the pie,but what happens if a or b does not come off.

Then we are in the brown stuff.

This is concerning currently second for the drop.

These things take time - unfortunately that's how football works now.
The players/agents have all the power and will hold out for the best deal (especially when they already have a contract as in Keogh's case)

We ain't going to be in the poo whatever happens as we will see out team playing something resembling football for the first time in many seasons this year...

I think Norwich, Swansea, Southampton and Brighton were pretty high up on this list this time last year, shows what they know....

If Cisse & co have made Bristol C a laughing stock, then what does that make Manchester City ?
