Its great to be alive, what a nice walk Osca an I enjoyed at 5 this morning, nothing like that early morning air in the lungs, the world about to wake and a good day ahead.

I think I have moved into a new stage in life, the stage of oh well, not worth getting in a state over, a stress free state and I must say its a state I enjoy. We have debated, discussed and dissected the squad, the team and the two sigings needed, I can do no more. I hear about rose tinted glasses, head in sand, I understand why but have to say no, I’m neither.

For over 50 years I have followed Sunderland, laughed, cried, been suicidal and orgasmic, more suicide than orgasm, and that’s for sure, may be its realisation, maybe its cant be bothered, maybe its just how I feel today.

In the main I enjoyed yesterday, not the result but the day. I enjoyed the excitement in the build up, meeting my fellow season ticket holders and saying hello, good to be back. I enjoyed seeing Scatty Moo again even though she did give me a fright. I enjoyed meeting Sunderpit and saying hello. Now Les, Redfender came as a bit of a surprise, before the back end of last season I had never met him, then he came to say hello. We have about 5 minutes chat, about nothing in particular but I sort of missed it and looked forward to saying hello again, I enjoyed meeting Les for our little chat.

I enjoyed a lot of the first half, some good stuff but the bits that concerned me did not come as a surprise, we all know what they are. When Newcastle scored I was not down, annoyed or shocked, we could all see it coming.

I was glad we didn’t get that last minute fluke of a goal, I felt daft last year jumping up and down like we had just won the cup, at least I could have a dignified defeat this year.

Please don’t read this as me saying don’t post your moans and groans, let out your frustrations and anger, its what this forum is for. Its just me saying that I have accepted that I can do little about new signings, team choice or tactics, I either keep going and enjoy the good bits or stop going, I cant stop and its bad for my health to keep on fighting.

I have accepted that for all Nialls hopes and wishes, we don’t do magic carpet rides at Sunderland, we do rollacoasters. I will spend the next 10 days scouring the gossip columns and hoping that its a game, those 2 players will be signed but hope is all I have, power and influence I don’t have. We have problems and I know my mates from Newcastle may not agree but I think Newcastle have bigger problems. They won and good luck to them, I wish we had but we didn’t, that’s life but I’m pleased its over and I can get back to watching football without the tension of the past week.

Maybe tomorrow I will be angry but today, life is good and I refuse to let things I cant affect change that.

Well I think there are substantially worse teams than Sunderland or Newcastle in this league, Wigan and Blackburn for instance and probably Wolves/Fulham, leave alone the 3 newly promoted teams. I do not expect either team to be fighting in the relegation zone this season, let's remember that neither team disgraced themselves last week against top-6 opposition.

We didn't really gel yesterday and resorted to hoof-ball again in what was a typical scrappy derby game. We will get better and I believe there are plenty of orgasms in this team and I'd take the fluky injury time equaliser over the dignified defeat any day mate.

I had a very good sleep, best for a few days now that those pre derby nerves are behind us, for now.

I have given up on staying on here when the fighting starts, not worth the bother so I along with others log of and come back later. My crap week on GC changed my outlook mate.

Dont blame you mate, plus you have the rest of the site to over look...

What pissed me of about last night/early morning. wasn't the Mags, far from it, actually they were quite funny at times..

It wasn't even the Bruce out threads, as i don't care about them, everyone has an opinion.

It was when it got into a slanging match between our own posters over nothing, poor Smithy took some grief of some fella over nowt..and it carried on for ages between others.

Obviously everyone is pissed off, but its not our fault we lost, nor was it our opinions that cost the match.

Today will be much better, everyone has taken it all in...well nearly everyone.

I had a look through the threads today and we could have a few sorry fans when they sober up. Emotions and hurt are bad bedfellows and our fans, like all fans cover a very wide range of opinion. When they are voiced through pain it becomes nasty at times and IMO very unfair, its also unfair on the mods who cant win.

Syd Im the same age as you and I dont take any notice any more about whose more to blame than anyone else. Its just not worth the effort .I posted yesterday to say Newcastle are just one of those teams who have a hold over us and we cannot get a result off them for love nor money but the responses had nothing to do with my thread just another set of blame cultures so why bother posting.
Im of an age that these results whilst disappointing are hardly unexpected as Ive been experiencing them for over 50 years like you. We do have a squad that can take us forward but adding so many new faces takes time for them to gel and some on these boards are just unrealistic with the Bruce out shouts after ONE bad result.

Good post Syd. It helps everyone to keep it in perspective. It is only a game after all. No, I know supporting Sunderland is much more than that but those of us who have been around a while know exactly what you mean about the roller coaster.

I didn't read the forums last night either. I knew they would be full of "Bruce out!", "Mig is rubbish", "why does Richardson get a game", "Gyan looks uninterested" etc etc etc. I did watch Football First where we were the main game though. Looking at it as objectively as I could at the end I thought we played quite well, with quite a few positives given it was only the second game. Yes still some negatives to work on, but what team doesn't this early in the season? Look at Arsenal or Everton for instance, and even Chelsea struggled to beat West Brom. Anyway, as you say we can't stop supporting the lads but we can stop allowing the disappointments to rule our lives.

Football forums don't really help in some ways as they allow those with the more extreme views to have an audience. Mix that factor with alcohol and it can be poisonous. Fortunately on this board I think we have a good mix of posters who generally see positives as well as negatives, at least after a day or so.

And I appreciate it is a hard job for moderators, as I am sure most other contributors do. Keep up the good work!

I agree. Im not as disappointed as i have been in the past. They seem to have a hold over us, don't know why. I could see the goal coming after the first 20 mins when we didn't score.

Good luck to them I say. I don't think it was a deserved win, just a typical scrappy derby which I think suited Newcastle.

We know the problems in our team, yesterday just confirmed it.

Watch the full game mate then say that both teams were terrible and if I was a barcode I'd be as worried as I am about my team.

Syd I hope you dont include me in there? I was stone cold sober in my thoughts about Bruce. He is a craa loving toon boy and his 3 derby games have shown that in droves. He cant and doesnt want to beat them. Thats obvious.

However, its not just yesterdays game that pisses me off. We have been as poor at home this year then we were in the 15 point season and yet Bruce is still hailed as some wonderful manager. He is a shambles.

If we persist with him this season, I comfortably predict another relegation scrap (same as the previous 2 under him) and a shed full of woe come March's return derby fixture against his beloved toon.

His home record alone should be grounds for dismissal but the derby day no shows are now embarrassingly obvious and he is taking the piss out of us all.

Martin O Neill in before September is out and our season could yet be a great one. Keep Bruce and we are all in for another **** year ahead.

I had no names in mind Cest, just a general view and you are very entitled to yours, just decided that life is to short for me to let anger to spoil any of it.

Had my days, many of them, being an angry young man, middle aged man and older man and if others want to carry on the good fight I have no problem with it. I'm just being honest in saying it bores me a little now so I try and steer clear. I was out for my walk early today, the birds still sang, Osca still made me smile and the day ahead felt good, I enjoy my Sundays. On Tuesday I will have Radio Newcastle on listening to the game, then again next Saturday. The following Saturday I will be in my seat at the SoL, will enjoy my chat with Les(refender), my moans ang groans with the people around me.

Just me Cest, not asking for understanding or approval, TBH I cant say it will affect my life, maybe I have given up or maybe I have finaly grown up.

I see where you're coming from Syd and respect your stance. It's unbelievable ehat football does to people eh?
Enjoyed the game yesterday and a draw may have been a fair result after your decent first half performance but you miss a few clinical players who can take their chances.

Was nice to see some mackems be gracious in defeat yesterday but I felt that was because many of them didn't have a leg to stand on after they had been saying for the last 3 games that they would beat us.

I think you're being a bit negative there like, there were spells of decent football from both sides who are still settling in. I reckon the likes of Blackburn, QPR, Norwich, Swansea, Wigan, Wolves etc could really struggle this season. Even Everton if they get a few injuries, they'd be ****ed.

not surprised about only one leg to stand on, some tasty tackles yesterday. Dont get me wrong, did not enjoy getting beat and would have loved to be gloating today but we didnt so I cant, just decided its not worth having a misserable weekend over, maybe I have given in, who knows but I am enjoying my Sunday far more without the agro.

If either team is near the bottom 3 I would be amazed.

Syd, kinda disappointed you've managed to let this fool post 13 times without getting banned. Is your magic banning button broke?
