I offer you a quote from a statement made by Mr Payne (appropriate), Grant Holts representative.

Payne said Holt was still seeking to leave the club, adding: "We felt we had to speak up because I've seen a lot of comments from fans giving Grant absolute pelters and it's just not fair.
"Grant loves the club and the fans have got to ask themselves why has Paul Lambert left? Why does Grant Holt want to leave?"

Please do not bring the good names of the fans into it. This is purely a negotiation between a player and his employers. Do not stir it.

The quote was mentioned as a riposte to Macca who said Grant Holt was too old at 31 to be offered a three year deal. Personally, I agree with that.

Agreed Redruth. I have already put on another thread just how unworthy 'Payne' is when it comes to negotiating. The fact is, he isn't in the same league as Mcnasty so he is clutching at straws in order to put pressure onto the negotiations and it has massively backfired - well it has for us Not606ers who seem to more or less be on the same wavelentgh in all of this!

I agree. I said on another thread it is this comment that annoys me, its just **** stirring really. There is no way saying stuff like that is going to help him get a new deal. While I'm sure contract length may of been an issue I am sure he is being very selective with what he tells us and there is much more to it than that (money?). I detest agent

Although theres no condoning Grants little tantrum, I don't see why people think he's not worth a three year deal. Even if you only get two good years he's already done well for you, pace isn't going to be a problem because theres a lot more to him than that. And at 31, your never going to command a large transfer fee. If this is just about the 3rd year, I think he should have been given it. Saying that, Payne sounds like he might be deflecting something, so who knows.

its not just the three year deal -he wants more money too, more than the club can afford. he still has two years left on his deal. if he is patient in 6 months he can negotiate more effectively with the club. its his agent being a twat that has led to this

Holt and his agent are really starting to piss me off. I can accept the way Lambert left as we all knew it would happen that way. However, Holt and Payne are acting like prize dickheads.

Too big for their boots, both of them.

    Get rid of him, now!
