Turn the clocks back only a few weeks on this board and a good 80% of posts were full of negativity and doom and gloom ... even borderline suicidal!

Roll on 29/6/2011 reading today's posts and I'm happy to be a SAFC fan, Quinn & Co have obviously been doing their homework behind the scenes, today's signing being a prime example.

I know we still need to strengthen other areas but my confidence has returned, I fully believe we will add at least 3 maybe more high calibre signings before the seasons start.

What happened to the old Sunderland and transfer deadline day, we obviously do things differently now!

    Optimistic .... I am! <cheers>

Well I was certainly one supporter who was down in the dumps after our total capitulation since January and then selling Henderson 2 weeks after that awful period.

However, as with any supporter, I am entitled to be happy as well when things are good and the signings so far are all very good IMO. They will all add to our sqyad and make us a far stronger unit. That this recruitment is quite clearly nowhere near over yet is a hugely encouraging sign that Bruce means business and thast good for the club and us supporters.

I will admit to some mild panic, i even feared that the Henderson sale was gonna put off supposedly nailed on signings, Larsson and Westwood.

Looking at it now, we are getting the balance, we have a young hungry team, and arguably THE hottest young prospect in British football.

You can cite Sturridge and Welbeck, and i'd love either, but undeniably we have somehow got a hold of the most sought after of the lot, and my credit and praise for Bruce, Quinn and our wonderful owner Ellis Short could not be higher.

Our 3 muskateers, and not an injury plagued Frenchman in sight!
