That's a very BBC point of view.

Also doesn't at all imply something wrong with being white. Simply states a fact and then goes on to look further into it. No problems here apart from those made up in someone's head because they're looking for it

I don’t think it’s an issue I honestly don’t. If the players are good enough it’s because they are.

Not because of colour of skin.

I am sick of this colour debate because it’s being thrown down our throats and I think most of us are now diverse and open minded about it.

Are they seriously saying that black players are not being selected because of the colour of their skin.

    Really?

I think (not having watched the Alex Scott follow up piece) that it's likely to be why are there not more black etc players coming through, probably from grass roots level. Doubt very much there's a suggestion that black players aren't being picked on racial lines

The fact the comment is from the National Housing Party UK, already suggests this is hardly a profound and thought provoking comment.

This is confirmed when you watch the video and all that is said is all 11 players and subs were white, which shows a lack of diversity in the women's game. The phrase "too white" is never even mentioned.

This is the BBC. Just my take, but they do seem to have agendas.

Yes really. It's only 4-5 years since the coach of the England women's team was making jokes like "you're family are from Nigeria? Well make sure they don't being ebola to the game then" and saying to mixed race players "how many times have you been arrested now? Four?".

The FA initially let this slide leading to players like Aluko not playing for them whilst challenging for titles with Juventus. Many of the current players were part of that set up and whether they were complicit or not I consider it very pertinent to ask whether ethnic minorities would feel welcome or comfortable in the environment.

Stupid comment - no one is implying something wrong with being white.

Just a build up to a price about diversity and saying probably saying how womens football needs to do more to try and get women of diff backgrounds and ethnicity playing sport because atm there are blockers.

That tweet is just another example of someone with their own agenda trying to create a problem when there wasn't one, implying that it's other people who have the agenda. They are trying to turn a sensible discussion about whether the sport is attracting players from all parts of society into some sort of white Vs non-white war. This seems to be happening more and more, with some sections of society trying to spin discussions about equality into attacks on being white.

I don’t believe that black players are not being selected because of the colour of their skin.

Not in this day an age.

If you are saying it’s a problem in the womens game at grass roots level and the players are thus not developing to get to elite level then I can maybe accept that with some form of proof.

The skin colour card is played far to easy these days for me. In sport if your good enough you are good enough.

And that I could agree with. But to suggest it is an issue at elite level in womens football is just not right. It’s only my opinion.

That woman made a flippant statement based on what she was seeing. Almost an observation.

Maybe I am misunderstanding the OP point actually. Not what she said but more what he said.

Ah in that case what he said was completely dumb.

Mehta annoys me in general is that race and colour are labels attached to things at times and that in itself can be a bit racist.

    An example…

Media- A black man was arrested today on suspicion of the stabbing of xxxx.

Reality- A man was arrested today on suspicion of the stabbing of xxxx.

its like when police forces openly say they don’t haven enough black officers like there’s some kind of quota.

A police officer should be employed on his or her ability not his/her/they/it’s skin colour.

I wonder if the BBC will make a similar comment during the next Olympic 100m sprint final...
