I don't know if it's the digital version only or the paper one as well, but nice to see such an influential US publication talking about us, and saying 'we're the hottest team in the land' http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203833104577072381225855666.html?
Thanks for the article, I'll give that a read for lunch Ensil, I liked how their journalist helped 'Arry sound articulate adding that spiel infront of "that's why we've done so well"
Well found GH10, it gives a really good feeling that we are being noticed for playing the game the right way. just as a side note, I was watching press pass on ESPN and they asked the panel (shaka hislop, franck lebeof and craig burley) if they has to pay to go to any PL ground which one would they choose. Shaka chose Etihad City, Leboef chose Swansea? Craig Burley chose us because we are playing exciting free flowing football. Power shift well and truly in place.
Cheers for comments guys, the WSJ always sounds a pretty influential publication to me, not that I've ever read the famous paper version
One of Harry's weaknesses I think - of course a settled team will be more likely to do well over a short period but you'd have to be immensenly lucky with injuries to win the title (or even get top 4) using so few players. And the ones that come in will be rusty and lacking in confidence as we saw on Wednesday. To be fair he hasn't had much choice so far though - fingers crossed we can get Gallas, Dawson, Huddlestone and Kranjcar back to give some options
This is why I was hoping for an extended run in the Europa League. We need to keep our squad players fresh and happy somehow, though this has largely been scuppered by most of them being injured for most of this season.
Great link, thanks. Yup, there are 3-4 dailies in the US that matter these days, and the Wall Street Journal is probably #2, after the New York Times. But it's actually a somewhat bigger deal than that, because unlike the other two, it only has a little sport/cultural content, which is geared to keep business people up to speed on big or interesting developments.
Cheers RW I guessed something along those lines, as when I used to read the FT, it carried very little football, don''t know if that's still the case.
The worst I heard was in a sports store in San Diego: "Tottenham Hopspur" - where they also called Sheffield Wednesday "Hillsboro"
Ghoddle It's interesting to see interest in football in general and the Prem in particular rise--slowly-- in the US. The two best gauges are how high it rates on ESPN's page (they now have a more organized and complete approach to football in the world than anyone else I've seen), and how many team shirts I see around--I see them fairly often now, almost never a few years ago. Of Prem teams, more Man U than any other, then Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool--and no one else. I don't see any Spurs shirts except when I look at my wife or in the mirror--but give it time!
No doubt. I live in Pittsburgh, about which it's been said: If the apocalypse arrives, go to Pittsburgh, because it'll take ten years for it to get there.
You'd have thought that there'd have been some interest in clubs that have American players, really. Fulham and Everton have probably had the most.
