Faye is a man mountain and yes for me - Fuller now injury prone and past his sell by date - Lawrence no thanks (Mansfield fanny) Bruce has said though that you need physical presence to get out of this division so no tippy tappy stuff for him then?
Assuming the wages were right though, wouldn't you want Fuller working alongside Proschwitz in training to help him adapt to the English game and being there to give him a break every now and then as well as covering for injury. Even if it was 10 starts and 20 sub appearances for Fuller the coaching benefits and fitness benefits for Proschwitz would be worth having him. Plus he's only 32 I think, so he's younger than say Heskey and more of a similar player to Proschwitz.
I wouldn't have thought so. I knpow Fuller's a big powerful guy but he's a really good footballer. He's got exceptional skill level. Do agree generally though, that know how can rub off on the others and he's a good fit between the big striker and the smaller guys. Gives us options. I like that we are recruiting a few experienced guys into a young squad. Don't want too many though.
I worry about any O.A.P,s that are for free especially if they get more than a one year offer ,they appear to be cheap (but aren't because of wage level) and can become a liability like Oli , Ginga Ninga and to some extent Kilbane. Why can't we spot emerging young talent in the lower leagues.Over the last couple of seasons lower league talent has come good in the higher grades and just needed the opportunity to show their wares.
Exactly. Dean Windass was technically 'past it' then and look what he managed to do. Age is only a slight concern, if they're still good enough to perform, then it doesn't bother me. I'd offer Faye a one year deal to see how it goes first though. Same with Fuller.
Both would be quality additions, which must mean we are looking to offload a couple. McShane & McLean probably
If we're going to be playing with 3 centre backs like on Monday night we're going to need Faye without offloading anybody. Otherwise it's Cooper, Chester, and McShane starting with Bradley the only one in reserve for the first 3 months of the season. Would you fancy going 3 months knowing that if Chester got injured we could probably write off promotion before Xmas? Signing Faye would also release McShane to be Rosenior's cover at right back.
If McShane wasn't good enough for cover in defense and had to be loaned out last year what makes you believe he would be good enough this coming season?Let's move forward not Stand Still.
Its opinions though isnt it. Oli and Simpson were deemed not good enough last season but plenty of people want to see them included
McShane was deemed too expensive to be cover last season and we ended up with our season going down the khazi when injuries hit our coverless defence. Unless you've got a club prepared to pay McShane the wages again this season he'll be a member of our squad.
