Wetheral sponsored the match on Saturday against Torquay and has been seen sat in the Devonport End at matches ..... on Pasoti some proclaim him a saint, some a sinner .... I personally think that he was part of the malignant 7 and although he is reputed to have put in loads of personal money to keep Argyle afloat, at least he can still afford to sponser a match whilst many are still waiting to receive owed wages .... any thoughts on this gentlemen ?
This is a hard one Gat-Po......18/24 months after the the crash and things have been said for and against Tony Wrathall.....whatever you say about him it hasn't changed his love of Argyle and ok he was part of the seven and obviously lost money and was part of the problem as well. Sponsoring Saturdays match was what he wanted to do....and Torquay would have benefitted from that.......if he sponsored a Home match that would have been too much for some to accept. My view as an exile and that means I havn't been locally around to pick up all the hassle that occured at the time is probably different to locals views....is to forgive.not to forget....but to allow him to be involved at some level and if he puts money into the club then take it.
Simple for me. No member of the old board should be allowed to be anywhere near Argyle now. I do not accept that they all did not know what was going on previously and if they had seriously loved the club as a supporter as well as part owner then they should have stepped in. He clearly didn't. I have no problem with him taking a quiet seat in the ground and paying like the rest of us but to put money into the club now seems a bit late. Pay off all the debts incurred and then I might consider it. I think there would be uproar in a lot of places if they are allowed back. I don't care how much of a fan these people profess to be. As plym has said there is a lot of talk about this guy on various websites and the opinion generally is along the lines I have made. For once even some of the extreme posters are right.

I couldn't have put it any better Joe, the unpaid staff were losing homes, players having to move in with each other as they couldn't afford their mortgages or rent either and if Wetheral can afford to play the big I am by sponsoring a match then he didn't lose that much ...... he should hang his head in shame along with the other 6 who nearly took our club away by their inept handling of it. No matter how they whinge and whine that they were out voted by the rest of the board, they could have leaked what was going on at board level and left it too the fans to take up arms over what was happening .... they chose not too so I don't want them anywhere near our club, as a paying fan or not !
The simple answer to that one Joe is absolutely nothing has happened as it seldom does to these people. They cause havoc and walk away without much of a care in the world. Take Heaney as an example. Bankrupted several businesses. Does he live on the local council estate? Course he doesn't. Did Robert Maxwell's son have to move out of his mansion? Course he didn't. History repeats itself with this kind of person over and over and it is only the small people who suffer for their greed and ineptitude. These people cause mayhem and then walk off with most of their money to start another money making scheme somewhere else without a care in the world.
Heaney has recently been made bankrupt himself as I mentioned in a thread last 28th of August......but as you say sensible I doubt if he's on the council housing waiting list just yet........Maybe his so called Irish buddies from their Gibraltar hideaway base will lend him a few invisable pounds to keep the wolf from the door......in the meanwhile Truro City will struggle on without him.
Sensible, i tend to agree i see this sort of people come and go but on a smaller scale. But it has the same affect on other people who they fleece! Perhaps i should try it? Just start up again the next day as most do, they make money out of the bankruptcy? there should be tougher laws, lots of our competition just go pop for the sake of it. These pricks who were on the board and caused this had n ocare or thoughts for any one else but themselves, greedy bastards. All thought it was going to be a nice ride on the strength of the world cup. CROOKS
