http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18995674 They have apparently offered £15mill and they have only just got promoted back to the Premier League. These teams really need to learn from what has happened to Rangers and what could potentially happen to Portsmouth. Don't know what West Ham's finances are like but it doesn't seem like a good idea.
£15mil for a striker that scored 6 goals?? last season, yep thats the way to try and gaurantee your survival I remeber Gold and Sullivan taking over that club in a complete mess and moaning about how the previous owners left it in... If they go down this year, they will be well and truly screwed i reckon!
They had a wage bill higher than Newcastle last season and it can only have increased with promotion bonuses and new signings.... says it all really absolute madness
This strikes me as a gimmick. They'd probably have a condition attached to the delayed payment of £15M so that if they didn't stay up Carroll would just revert to Liverpool. What Wet Sham really want is just a season-long loan with no further strings attached. Typical wide boy stuff I'd say. Can't but admire their clarity of vision and consistency though: G & S, Brady, Allardyce, East London: made for each other!
Much like rangers bid for Holt do you mean robbie? Thinking about it you could be right. But if not you've really got to question why they are doing it. A poster boy maybe (although I know he is rather ugly). This makes me rather pleased that we have McNally running the club. But obviously, unlike Rangers, they don't look like going into liquidation very soon.
You would have hoped that having seen what has happened to Rangers and Portsmouth that owners would have begun to take heed of what could happen and put their sensible heads on. No f**king chance looking at these clowns, I hope they get relegated and then go bust. Twats!!
Clubs that are run like this annoy me. Give me a Jacob butterflield or a snodgrass any day. No gimmicks, just the desire to play football and prove themselves.
probably true to be fair. i read the alleged offer was £2m up front with a further £15m dependent on other things such as staying up, reaching a cup final etc
IF it's a genuine offer then it's a gamble on being able to stay up. Carroll is not the messiah and he is a naughty boy but he will score goals if given the service.which could be the difference between staying up or going down. We know how much GH's goals meant to our survival last year and all teams need a forward capable of 10-15 goals - if they get him and he stays up then they are sorted. If not then deep in the brown stuff I'm afraid. I'm stii happier with our purchases and I just don't see this being a genuine offer, just a method of blagging a player for a season's loan at a knock-down price.
