Southampton: Nigel Adkins has almost a fully fit squad to choose from, with only Danny Butterfield and Dan Seaborne sidelined through injury. Form: West Ham United: LWWWLW Southampton: LWLDDW Line-Up: I'd stick with the same line-up, only changes I would even consider are Puncheon/Hammond for Schneiderlin/Do Prado for me, although I'd keep the same squad. Prediction: West Ham 1 - 2 Southampton - with everyone fit, including Lallana who was absent last time, I believe we can win this. Saints to go 2 up, but concede with 20 minutes to go to make an interesting finale.
Allocated Referee is Lee Probert, I mentioned on another thread he has been getting mixed ratings, I also said he is strong on the shirt tugging on players in the Penalty area, I actually made that up hoping a WHU rep. might have spotted it!
You said 4-0 10mins ago Thanks for doing the thread Lambden. As I said a slick display of passing and counter attacking football from Saints in this one West Ham 1-3 Saints I am even going to bet on this result.
0-1 to Saints (Lambert bullet header). Going to be a nervy affair for the fans. I am going but am nervous already. Saturday showed we can reach the heights earlier in the season. Need to win that midfield battle early on though. If west ham boss that we could be in trouble.
A West Ham fan on my Facebook timeline: "Got a terrible feeling we're going to get turned over tomorrow. Can see us adopting a negative approach and it being a frustrating game and them nicking a 1-0 win. Hope not though! COYI." A comment: "Just gotta keep Lallana/Lambert quiet, we get an early goal like Leicester did against em then theyre ours for the taking!"
Tough game this one, my heart says 1-2 but my head says 2-0 i think i will bet on a west ham win that way saints are sure to win. Looking for omens this game is to be played on the 14th and this our 14th league game since we won 2 league games in a row.
Feeling really good about this game, atmosphere should be good and our away support will be on top form. 1-3 win, sharp cork and Lee scoring at the end to wrap it up. COYR!!!
Have a small bit of optimism for tomorrows game. This really could go either way! Very nervous and will be a tough evening listening on Solent...!
Think the two teams are nearly equal, so result can be anything with variables like ref/linos, hitting woodwork etc. Going for a 1.0 win for Saints, but would happily settle for a draw. More concerned with teams behind us as I don't mind us going up with West Ham.
Close-fought game that either team could win. I expect that West Ham will play a rather negative style, but we're going to have to work hard to retain possession, and Fonte/Hooiveld are going to need to play very well. 1-1 or 2-1 either way, with either the loser feeling aggrieved, or both teams relieved to take a point.
Will be interesting to see how Maynard fits in. He could be dangerous running in behind flick on's etc. Would also be his first game so would have something to prove (especially with the new strikers coming in as well) but on the other hand he hasn't played for a while so shouldn't be on top form (fingers crossed). Really not sure how this one is going to go...I will be delighted with a draw tbh. The pressure is on WH, but they should be really up for this....
I can't believe some of the decisions that WH have got recently, hope the reffing standard is better tomorrow or we are in for an up hill struggle.
Why does everyone assume a poor ref will punish Saints? A dubious penalty to Saints and West ham player being sent off will do nicely thanks.
