. The 22-year-old began his career at Manchester United before a move to West Ham in 2012 but failed to establish a first team place at Upton Park, making 24 appearances and scoring 5 goals in all competitions in three years at the club. "West Ham United can confirm that the club have reached agreement with Ravel Morrison to terminate his contract with immediate effect," said a statement on the club's website (www.whufc.com). Morrison, now a free agent, has been heavily linked with a move to Lazio. Some British media reports have suggested he has agreed to join the Serie A club at the end of the season. Once described by Alex Ferguson as the most talented youngster he had ever seen, the midfielder's career has been overshadowed by a series of disciplinary matters off the pitch. He endured a tempestuous relationship with West Ham manager Sam Allardyce, who questioned his work ethic and honesty over injury claims, and was loaned to Birmingham City, Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City during his Upton Park career.
Is he the lad who is still tied to a London street gang and who are part of his entourage, or am I mixing him up wth someone else?
I'd have him back here in a flash, so long as he was prepared to graft. I'm 10 times more disappointed in Morrison leaving United than Pogba. If I was Steve McClaren, I'd be telling my owner to get him right now. McClaren could get the best out of him, of that I'm sure.
Very talented player undoubtedly. Complete bellend of a person by all accounts. If you can get him settled and knuckled down - he'd be a massive asset to most clubs
If only he was disciplined mate, he's ruined it all himself. The boy was mesmerising at United playing for the youth side. Real bad crowd of mates and the agent he had must be a right cancerous ****, I hate agents all the same for this very reason. He's still got it as well though, you can just tell, I swear mate if he shakes his demons and knuckles down in Italy, if the Italians think Pogba's special they ain't seen nothing yet.
Think we should go for him personally He comes up here then he's out the way of the London mob Tell him he's ****ed up just about everywhere he has been off the pitch but been fantastic on the pitch, so this is his last chance at a prem club For that reason think in terms of contract it wouldnt be that much Give him till June to show what he can do, add a few behavioural clauses in his contract Win/Win imo
The problem with taking a punt on players like this is that they occupy so much of the manager / coach's time, and that is to the detriment of the rest of the players. Example - Mancini with Baloteli Is it good for morale? Not IMO
You might say the same about Matt Kilgallon, who hardly put a foot wrong for us on the pitch. But three different managers wouldn't tolerate him.
Shouldn't matter - if he is not contracted to any club then he can sign for whoever he wants as his contract was terminated. You cannot be transferred to another club outside of the window but you can join a club if you are not contracted as far as I have been able to find! Still digging though
You need to be a free agent at the end of the window to go elsewhere. If you have a club at that point you have to wait until the next window mate.
Seems a bit of a strange ruling Thought it would be any free agents regardless of when they became one
I can;t find anything that says that anywhere! Been digging for the last half hour and I still haven;t found anything! What I have found is that a termination by mutual consent has to have 2 weeks notice - in which case the notice could've been given before the window ended and the contract terminated after the required 2 weeks - this may be a loophole they're exploiting. I'm an IT trainer though, not an agent or solicitor so what do I know?
That's surprised me but I guess in Morrison's case, if he's going to go to Lazio it would do him no harm to spend a few months becoming accustomed to the locals and trying to get as much Italian under his belt as possible in the mean time. Good luck to the lad, I hope he rips that league apart.
Try one of them obscure sites, like Wikipedia... Free agents can be signed by a club at any time during the season, if they had been released by their previous club before the end of the transfer window. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transfer_window
