http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34741829 The Olympic Stadium will be "one of the greatest arenas in world football", according to West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady. The Hammers will leave Upton Park and move in to the new stadium for the start of next season. "The Olympic Stadium offers enormous commercial and brand opportunities," added Brady. In August, BBC Sport revealed that West Ham will have many of the running costs for the stadium met by the taxpayer. In effect, it means the Premier League club will get their new £700m home - which was built for the London 2012 Olympics - virtually rent free as a large number of "facilities and services" will be paid for by the publicly-funded London Legacy Development Corporation. These include the cost of stadium utilities, maintaining the pitch, and the goalposts and corner flags. **** it, I'm a nice guy and I want to help out, I'll sort the corner flags. Someone tell Lee to PM me the details.
What a wonderful opportunity for the country. Baroness Brady must be very proud. She voted to cut tax credits, incidentally.
Hey, we don't like our tax money being wasted on football stadiums in East London. North London's fine, obviously. We're also happy to see all of the Scouse benefit money subsidising Everton and the Welsh and Nornirish benefits subsidising Liverpool.
Who pays for corner flags? As long as you don't mind the colour being wrong just ask some folk who attended a Chelsea game to give you their plastic flags.
You mean @luvgonzo isn't a Spurs fan? Good to have this thread from a non spurs, as everyone should be outraged by this, not just us. I do fear for Leyton Orient's future because of this stitch up.
