QPR News: Redknapp "wipes Morrison slate clean" by Hugh Southon 18th February 2014 9:48am GMT West Ham United's hopes that Queens Park Rangers may be ready to pay the £8million price tag for Ravel Morrison at the end of the season may prove overly optimistic. Indeed, Loftus Road boss Harry Redknapp knows that his reputation as a manager who can handle 'difficult' players is going to be tested to the limits with the young midfielder. He is however, is thrilled to have taken the youngster on loan and has - according to sources close to the player - "brought a smile to his face for the first time in weeks." He is ready to take a long look at the player on and off the field and should the 21-year-old play his part in a successful promotion season, could offer West Ham around £5 million. Morrison is leaving West Ham on a 93 day loan deal which would make him available for an promotion play-off involvement but Redknapp has admitted that he brings some baggage and represents a gamble And sources close to him told (football) direct news exclusively: "Harry spent all of yesterday morning (Mon) with Ravel and told him that he can become one of the world's great players. "He's exactly the type of player he loves and if he can look after him as he clearly hopes the future will be bright for both the player and club. "Harry's aware of the reputation the boy has but the slate is clean and Ravel sees this as a big chance."
Indeed, Loftus Road boss Harry Redknapp knows that his reputation as a manager who can handle 'difficult' players is going to be tested to the limits with the young midfielder. I'm sorry, I read that and spent the next few minutes picking my jaw off the floor. What reputation? My well documented prejudice against him admitted, I would class Taarabt, Cisse and Boswinga as 'difficult' players, who, had he 'handled' them may have saved us from relegation, they certainly had the talent. This year BAE seems to fit the same mold as does Hoilett in a slightly different way. He 'handles' 'difficult' players by freezing them out, getting rid of them or indulging them. All ably backed up by the inspiring trio of Joe Jordan, Kevin Bond and Wally Downes (anybody worked out why Fat Sam sacked him yet?).
West Ham hopes that QPR may be ready to pay £8 million for morrison ..... ... and I hope that I'm ready for a threesome with Kylie Minogue and Emma Watson. West Ham will settle for £5.5m and I will have to settle for Cilla Black and Judy Dench.
I think given our recent performances I'm happy to take the gamble. Our season is in danger of disappearing down the drain so we might as well try something new
The gamble is OK for a loan, in no way do I want him permanently, certainly not at that price. I'd rather have taarabt back.
QPR have agreed the 93-day loan capture of England Under-21 ace Ravel Morrison. Morrison will officially complete his loan move from West Ham United FC Official on Friday and could be in line to make his R’s debut against Charlton Athletic FC - Official on Saturday.
Don't believe everything you read Rsss. So far the rumour mill has it: - he needs a hernia op, but could easily play through it like many other players (Fat Sam) - he's refusing to play due to an injury the WHU medical team can't identify (Fat Sam) - he's fallen out with the Sam and Nolan because he won't be bullied into moving to their agent (Guardian) - he only wants to play in Nolan's position, and Sam won't let him (WHU blogger) Take your pick
I wondered what them brown things sticking out of his jacket were. No problem, he takes them off when he plays.
I am willing to show Jesus Morrison my nipple ...doesn't mean he is going to suckle. I prefer after some thought to watch Taarabt play on a bigger stage than the current fcuk up at Rangers. Harold is surely boxing himself in here now with these quotes if true of course
Just think Col, last season we could have had a team consisting of: Cesar, Bosingwa, Onuoha, Samba, Fabio, Faurlin, Granero/Mbia/Diakite, Taarabt, Townsend, Remy, Cisse. I don't think anyone could doubt the quality/potential of that bunch, even though they obviously did not deliver for us. Any manager with the nous and charisma to generate loyalty and motivation from the ego ridden and the self belief in those lacking confidence; and give them a clear framework in which to play, should have been able to get a top 12 finish out of them. I reckon Mourinho would have got top six. injuries permitting. Frankly I think all this 'right sort' stuff from H is idleness. He can't be bothered to work with players who aren't already self motivated model pros, like Hill and Dunne (and good for them), let alone develop young talent. Samba last year, Krancjar this. What on earth do the conditioning coaches do?
Yes, good post Sylvio. Apart from his first month or so with us when he stopped us slipping goals, before he got to the January window and swopped Nelson for Samba, and to be kind to him the start of this season, though the good results then were arguably McClaren's achievement and luck, Arry has done a poor job with the players he has had available to him, not much, if any better than Hughes.
