Poor Wes.... Derby County's Conor Sammon, Bristol City's Greg Cunningham and Aston Villa's Ciaran Clark will start for the Republic of Ireland in the international friendly against Poland on Wednesday night at Aviva Stadium. Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has made three changes to the side which started the November friendly against Greece. Republic of Ireland team to play Poland: Forde, McShane, O'Shea, Clark, Cunningham, Brady, McCarthy, Whelan, McClean, Long, Sammon.
Trap must still be unsure where to fit him in; I'll be amazed if he doesn't get on at all! Are any of the other 3 playmakers? - certainly not Clark, he's a perpetual fouler; not sure about the other two. Still, not entirely dissappointed, to be honest (& selfish, I guess), as we need him full of legs for Saturday.
Trapatoni is clueless as they come. In the Euros he played Andrews and Whelen ahead of the likes Of Hoolahan, Gibson and McCarthy.
Suits us doesn't it if he doesn't play ? Rather him be 100% fit to play on Saturday than get a 15 minute run-out in a meaningless friendly against England B.... I mean Poland.
