It's official!! Wes Morgan is the best defender in the league. He has been voted the 5th best player in the championship this season by managers of championship clubs Chris Wood was voted 6th place aswell please log in to view this image
Liam Bridcutt is class And Man U arent going to pay 15M for a muppet are they This was voted by the managers Charles. Not a 15 year old boy with too much time on his hands
Little suprised not to see Aluko up there and personally i rate that Sako lad from wolves very highly too.
To be fair Aluko has missed agood chunk of the season through injury. He missed agood third of it i think.
The fans Top 10 would be completely different from the Manager's Top 10 though, but saying that there's not much I would disagree on there with. Vydra shouldn't be top IMO, and Bridcutt should be higher but that's about it. Our team has been too inconsistent to have a player in the Top 10, but if there was going to be a Hull City player there, I'd probably have put Stephen Quinn there or Ahmed Elmohamady. They've been the catalysts to our success this Season.
Because he's been the typical target man this Season. Always scoring with his ****ing head. Everytime I watch FLS Highlights, he scores either a penalty, with his head (or with some other part of his body from an incoming cross). Since as in it's the Manager's Top 10, it's probably because they wished they had him in their squad getting on the end of some crosses. With the quality of crosses that come in from Brady and Elmohamady, he'd have scored the same amount if not more in the Hull City side. Unfortunately, we have Jay Simpson, Koren or the flop Proschwitz to try and get on the end of the crosses and it hasn't worked. Thank **** for Gedo!
He's scored 29 goals this season, that alone puts him in contention. If it wasn't for him Palace would be struggling to get in the top half nevermind going for the top 2. They always do these things a fair way off the season finishing which seems somewhat stupid. Not to pick on Leciester but Wood for example, if he continues his current form, surely shouldn't be that high up.
I seem to remember the players version the shortlist is drawn from votes in December, and then the final list is voted for in January/early February. I'd expect the managers one to be done a bit later though, there's far fewer votes to be counted (despite Blackburn's best efforts), but then they are announcing it now, and the last time we played a game there was still almost 2 months of the season left.
Where's Charlie Austin? Notably all these players are from the better teams- barring Ince at Blackpool; it raises the question of overall skill versus influence.
I'd agree with you, despite Aluko missing a couple of months, I think these things should be judged on what they have achieved while they're playing and I'm also a big fan of Sako.
I'm not going to blame Wes for one moment of madness- if anyone's made up for a mistake throughout the season, it's him. Can count the errors he's made throughout this season on one hand (unfortunately a few seem to have come recently, Ipswich's goal and Derby's 2nd being notable).
Look on the brightside, at least being sent off so quickly meant the wider footballing world didn't see him put on a dominating display. There'll be less sets of fans clamouring for their club to sign him in the summer now. There'd have been bound to be some crack pot owner who would go out and sign a player just because they'd heard the name going round a bit...
