Confirmed by the club he's done his knee ligaments.

Now we know how long it took Meyler and Campbell to come back from that type of injury and with Browns age and previous injury record i think well be lucky to see him at all this season.

I think it may force mons hand a little, definitely one more defender in and I think Killgallon and Bramble and even Turner may all end up staying at the club now.

I am gutted for the lad. It may be the end of his career never mind out for the season. This must be the 3rd or 4th time he has had a serious knee injury and at his age it will be very difficult to come back again.

Im gutted for him too and as hes probably our best CB but we all knew the risk of when signing him and its proved to be the case and theres no doubt O'shea will be out for some chunk of the season or more than likely in the ROI game 3 days before the season starts.

Turner/Bramble/Cuellar/Killa are all known for injuries too so looks like another disrupted back 4 all season again, which is a shame as a consistant back 4 gets you higher up the league, struggle to break the top ten again.

I don't understand the "and even Turner" comment as it insinuates he'd be first one out?? He was picked ahead of killer and bramble last season when all were fit!

Devastated for Wes. He is a proper 100% player. Great in the tackle.
Hope he recovers. Although Cuellars' signing makes it less urgent

Sunderland have been dealt a blow after defender Wes Brown suffered suspected knee ligament damage during the club's pre-season campaign.

Brown, 32, limped off in the Black Cats' 3-2 win over FC Groningen in the Peace Cup, in Korea yesterday.

The former Manchester United star spent a large portion of last season out with a knee problem, which he sustained in an FA Cup clash with Middlesbrough on January 29. He also suffered two cruciate knee ligament injuries during his time at Old Trafford.

New signing Carlos Cueller was also taken off during the match with a thigh problem, and with Phil Bardsley and Matt Killgallon not fit enough to make the Far East trip, Martin O'Neill's defensive worries are now mounting.

Would rather us look for a young CB that is going to improve rather than Collins but I suppose for a small fee he would be good

Would love Simon Kjaer, currently back at Wolfsburg the club he said he will never play for again, would be a fantastic signing for us

The important word is suspected. It maybe a serious injury, it may not. I guess we won't find out until they get back and the doctors can get a look at him.

There are more ligaments in the knee than cruciate. It could be a lateral ligament injury which is less serious and if only a partial tear, it is only 3 months out. Lets hope it is not cruciates, we all know what that might mean
