Poor performance by our team. Our central defence looks so much weaker minus Paul Robinson & Jack Whatmough. Ben Chorley and Nyron Nosworthy not up to the job - Chorley keeps giving the ball away, and is a liability. Would rather see Johnny Ertl as a centre back, at least he plays for the team. Shrewsbury are a powerfully built side, and played far better than us. Poor referee again. The first half booking for Nosworthy was an absolute joke. Akpa-Akpro was diving to the ground before Nosworthy got near him, right in front of the linesman. The number of times Ryan Taylor was fouled, or was held back by a Shrews player, which went unpunished, beggars belief. Not to mention the blatant time wasting by their keeper who clearly deserved a yellow card. Rant over
I didnt go o this one mate........too much work on, but by all accounts we were awful! I guess we are back to the debate of "is AA up to the job"? probably not.......are the players u to the job? probably not......well some are......shame is those are injured. I heard Wallace had another off game? I think like most......I wanted stability more than anything this season......and off pitch I think we have that, we have the trainng ground sorted now, the staffing infrastructre is taking shape.....and I truly believe we have a good coach in Waddon.......but I am still on the fence with AA.......my gut feeling is as nice a guy as he is.....we need a more experienced man at the help............
Woops has summed up well - how their big centre back never got a card was beyond me - yet Dunne made one foul challenge and got a yellow. That said we were awful.......apart from the first 8 minutes when we really went for them......after that, particularly after the goal we were lacklustre and turgid and although their second was a bit fortunate they rarely had to do much to win. Ironically Liam Lawrence controlled the game in central midfield - simple passes, good possession and looked very tidy. Fair play to him for coming toward the Fratton End and applauding the Pompey fans at the end. They looked like what we should be - solid, confident and hardworking - I like AA but today again many questions reared their head again...not just about him but a lot of the squad. Only a couple came out with any credit today but this was a very very poor show.
I'm coming round to PL's thinking, though maybe in a slightly more upbeat fashion. We really do need a proven manager. Pompey are too big a club for AA to start with.
