Im convinced more than ever that were going up, our squad is immense with everyone fit and to pick up draws against West Ham, Brum, Cardiff and to beat Burnley shows were determined i personally think we will absolutely spank Derby on saturday and wel be top of the league!!!!!!! COYR
As positive as I try to be, there's a whole host of negativity that I keep pushing down. It's the product of being a lifelong Saints fan, and It's a conflict that I never let show on here, if I can, but one thing I don't say is... We're Going Up, when we're barely mid-February. It's a wonderful thought, as a fan, but that's all it is at the moment. Let's not take the impact out of it, by making a KK out of it. You never know, it could be Kevin Keelan. please log in to view this image
I must say, I feel really positive about our chances. Mid Feb, 2nd, one point of top, & a particularly difficult run is just behind us. A fully fit squad & Nige barking orders, hope the lads don't take their eye of the ball this w/end.
I don't think it will take that high of a points total to go up automatically this year either. Around 80-85 points should be enough.
Much more positive outlook than a few weeks ago with Brum, Cardiff and West Ham to negotiate. Still more twists and turns to come this season, but points on the board is all that matters now .
We're in an enviable position, to be sure. The same could be said at the beginning of December, though, and we blew that opportunity to some extent...however, if we win our home games and can find some points away, we're in fantastic shape.
Our form away still worries me. We seem to have turned a lot of away defeats in to draws which is a step in the right direction. We now need to turn those draws in to wins and keep winning 2 out of every 3 home games. If we can do that, we'll be home and hosed. Squad is starting the look a lot more competitive, bearing in mind Chaplow and De Ridder weren't even used and Puncheon, Lee and Connolly were on the bench and all are potentially game-changers, things are looking better than they were a month ago. What is really needed now is a run of 3 or 4 straight wins to break away from the chasing pack again. Of paramount importance at this stage is the gap between 2nd and 3rd. Grow that first and then worry about 1st place.
Understand that, but I am pleased with our position. Forget where we could have been if we had beaten West Ham, if we had beaten Bristol City..if, if, if. The fact is that we have been top for months and are still second 3 points ahead of third with a better GD. We started with a bang and when we started to struggle many teams would have fallen away, but we've rallied and got draws against other title contenders. So we can say we deserve to be where we are...still in contention in mid-February.
Strewth Talk about chickens and eggs and the counting of!.......It is nice to have a positive outlook I would agree, somehow we are still there or there abouts. Just bear in mind there is still 45 points to play for though is my only caution.
