See that's interesting, because I thought you got into the Champions League by keeping your best players and spending a decent amount of money on new players.

Apparently we've bid 8.5 million for Grenier, Lyon want 15m...and so it begins [sigh].

 

If I were Charnley (most people assume JFK does the deals... he doesn't... its this fella) I'd propose the following:

Take the Cabaye money (£20m)

For Grenier - £10m up front +Marv

For Cabella- £12m up front + add ons + Obertan (they need bodies)

We get 3 off the wage bill (including Cabaye)... bring two in.... and have a net spend of £2m.

The nearer we get to the deadline, the higher the price as the selling club struggles to find replacements.

Don't underestimate the fact that we uniquely pay up front for players which will help a club's cash flow as well as generate more interest for them on the bank.

Have to say my utopia is gettin gthese two in + De Jong this window... that will seriously strengthen our options.

What is it you do for a living? Only sort occasionally but should make more of an effort with fellow fans. I'm a fireman, some people like us, others think we're lazy greedy gits!

Anyway, hopefully get Grenier, Cabrella and De jong .... and they all prove to be good, better still hit the ground running,.really wanna beat them lot at the weekend

It's the 29th of january... I really don't see anything happen. We'll probably stagger to 47 points, in 10 place, call it a succesful season then get the people in the summer.

Remy and Gouf being out is a real problem though. Massive problem.

 

I think the Grenier bid is one of those token bids that they (the board), the fans and everyone else know is going to be rejected. Cue the 'We won't be held to ransom' bollocks. Why the **** did we not move for players earlier on in the window? We all know the answer but Jesus Christ please on this occasion prove me wrong. Please!

Only one target so if that goes pear shaped all is lost.

 

As you're all well aware, I hate to be the cynical voice of Ashley-esque reason, but until I see a player holding a black & white shirt, I really don't see us signing anyone in the time left.

The club will 'push ahead as strongly as possible' in their pursuit of their targets... I wonder if we'll hear "over the line" mentioned this window?

As in, "..we couldn't quite get the deals over the line..."

Just work in an office mate. Although my job title is a "resource planner"

I basically work in the planning team for a call centre, so work otu how many staff we need throughout the day, forecast how many calls we can expect etc. All pretty boring to be honest.

 

All gone tits up with resource levels today then, what with you on here checking for new transfers.
