Wenger's Transfer Targets

Discussion in 'The Premier League' started by Hoddle is a god, Dec 2, 2014.

  1. I'm surprised that no Gooner has started this thread already, so (in the spirit of friendship and mutual respect) I thought I'd get it kicked off.

It's a valid subject for a thread, because we all know that the AFC purse-strings have, finally, been loosened, and Wenger has been promised a kitty the size of a small African country's national debt. It's true, also - and I doubt that we will get many Gooners who disagree with this statement - that Arsenal could do with some reinforcements across all areas of the park. Therefore, a thread, such as this one, is quite timely, to keep an eye on who it is that Wenger looks to get in over the coming months (provided he still has a job).

It used to be said that Wenger was a cheap-skate, and would not spend decent money on getting in players that he couldn't rape for free from the best youth academies around the world. Some of his harshest critics were Gooners, too. However, with the provision of a large war-chest, Wenger can go out and spend, and we've already seen some evidence that he'll do just that, with a couple of his Summer signings.

It's been announced, recently, that Thierry Henry is leaving New York Bulls on a free, and Wenger has stepped right in to announce that he'd love him back at Arsenal. None of us would disagree with his thinking, of course; Henry can no longer get a game in the USA, but he should manage to hold down a regular starting slot in Arsenal's first XI. However, the most immediate problem that Wenger will face is that he is going to have to find a massive £nil (zero pounds) to buy Henry, which will mean dipping massively into that war-chest. Buying a (nearly) top-rated USA-based 38 year old "striker" is never going to be cheap, and it remains to be seen if Whinger is prepared to bite the bullet.

Anyway, enough of that. I hope that Arsenal fans will flock to this thread and use it appropriately. Let us have your thoughts on what targets you'd like to see Whinger go for, or use these pages to give us your insights into the players that AFC have been scouting, no matter how fantastical the prospect of getting in those players might be.

All I would as is that we, please, keep the wumming out of this thread, and let's treat the topic with the respect that it deserves. Thanks. <ok>

They should buy a quality no 10 like Mesut Ozil and play him as a no 10 to supply the bullets for Thierry

  4. Agreed. Henry latching onto those through-balls from Ozil would be devastating, especially when Whinger buys that time-machine and transports Henry back 15 years to the days when he had the strength to run onto through-balls.

It's a mouth-watering prospect for any true footy fan.

  5. It was okay, but I thought that Beth's death was too contrived.

Ozil would be a great signing for Arsenal, and show that they really mean business.

They've paid off their stadium, FFP has stopped City, Roman is bored of Chelsea; Fergie has gone; now Arsenal, the best run club in the world, will dominate for decades.

Even 38 year old Henry on a free transfer would still be a better prospect than £27m Soldildo <ok>
