Perhaps I'm not the only one who noticed Wenger was quiet and methodical in the first half of his time in English football, but has been increasingly angry, whiny and petulant in the second half. The quiet and methodical era coincided with his success, and the angry and whiny era with not winning anything. Is the lack of success the cause of the anger? Or is the anger a contribution to the lack of success. Personally, I have found that losing one's cool only leads to a further loss of performance. So I think it's a vicious cycle of getting angry from losing, and losing from getting angry. If Wenger controlled his outbursts, I genuinely think he would make better decisions during the match, and be able to reflect better on what happened in the match afterwards. One also has to consider how the anger is interpreted by the players. Do they see his degeneration into raging as controlled or not? Would this create confidence or precipitate a loss of concentration?
His 'Raging' is a disgrace and is fast becoming an embarrassment to the club. He is becoming a joke and 'away' fans are parodying him regularly. He needs to calm down and stop berating officials. If he can't do it he should be made to take anger management classes. Sadly he is becoming a a total liablity. He is clinging on to sanity by his fingertips and if we fail to finish in the top 4 our own fans will not forgive him.
I think wenger genuinely is desperate to win trophies and the drought we are currently experiencing is a reflection of his frustration. With regards to the team i think he generally potrays a calm figure in front of them. Remeber cesc saying the outburst during our match against liverpool was his first. However i feel this summer he will have had enough and we will witness.considerable change of personnel within the team.
I can't believe the comments on here. You are taking too much stock from the baying gibbons that make up the Stoke fanship.
I take it you haven't noticed a change then?... I will support Wenger until the end. I'm only suggesting what might improve his management of the team. I don't care how he "looks" to other fans.
he looks ill, old, tired, beaten, frustrated, lost.......very very sad. I hope we make 3rd just to give him a few months to get better, and reflect.
I'd rather he spazzes out than does a Maclaren and stands in total silence whilst the team gets r*ped. You should see me kick off when I get killed playing xbox, I find it focuses me . What he does on the sidelines doesn't bother me too much. For example, I love the way certain managers prowl the sidelines lambasting their squad. Obviously it'd be nice if he were more gracious after matches as it's not pleasant to see him in post match interviews. After all these years it's not getting any better either.
If you can't contribute positively don't bother, no need to resort to your usual childish name calling.
I haven't seen much of a difference. I keep hearing about him "ragiing" or about an "outburst", but then I go to watch the interview and he seems calm and well reasoned.
Head buried firmly in the sand again TT. Its not the post match interviews but his touchline antics Doh. Wenger has been disciplined by UEFA for the second year in a row for his outbursts at officials in the Champions League. He can regularly be seen berating officials on the touchlinein Premier League games notably the Stoke game. The only group he fails to address are the players who could do with geeing up.
If it worked for the team I wouldn't care if he punched a hole in his seat or mooned the other manager. I just think that getting angry has become a habit of Wenger's that makes it easier to cope with losing. This would lead to a decrease in preventative measures to actually stop us losing in the first place. I'm not saying he's consciously sabotaging the team, but I think he is unconsciously sabotaging himself. As I said, I'll support him to the end of time, I just wish he could control himself.
