Look's like he is very likely to sign a new one according to the link below with Gazidis sounding very confident. If this was put to me this time last year, then I would have probably lost my mind, because we were in a sorry state and Wenger showed no signs of being able to improve the team. The defence in particular was a mess, but a year is a bloody long time in football, and my word a lot of things have changed. We now have the most impressive defence in the league and are currently sitting on top of the league table, not to mention the small fact that we signed one of the best players in the world last summer and in doing so shattering our transfer record. The felt like a watershed moment. All I ever wanted was for us to get back and try and compete again and this season we are doing that, so I can't complain.

But are there still many Gooners on here who are actually unhappy with Wenger signing a new contract (apart from Kyle)?

I really questioned very hard whether he was the man to take Arsenal forward for a large number of reasons. Many of which have since been addressed and it's no secret that I've changed my opinion on this. I'd be happy for him to sign a new deal.

I posted a thread a while ago that asked whether the Wenger out people still thought that way, it was met with a slightly strange accusation that I was trying to make people look bad. I can't make people look bad, but it did suggest that some were reluctant to admit that they might have changed their minds.

But that aside, it's an interesting question as to whether those who wanted him out are now happy that he's about to sign a contract extension ?

Personally, I'm chuffed to bits <ok>

Well I think I am one of the few people who can say honestly that they never doubted him. I can show you the scars to prove it! :D

I think Wenger should resign at the end of the season, (irrespective of what happens), for some reason I think that will provide an impetus and motivation for the players, for some reason I have a feeling that they might just drop off a tiny wincy little bit should Wenger come out it with now, keep them on the edge, instead of relaxing the players with them knowing Wenger's around.

I suspect Ozil, Vermaelen, Zelalem, Gnabry, Wilshere and Ramsey at least will be negatively affected if he leaves.

All of them have stated their opinions on how important his presence at Arsenal has been instrumental in them being with us.

Getting rewarded for near-certain failure again. **** this club, **** Arsene, and **** the idiot fans who are so protective of a man who has consistently shown he is not up to the task anymore. His refusal to address the striking issue is further proof that the guy has lost the ****ing plot.

Well they can all **** off then if he goes. They should be playing for the club and and the badge, not the ****ing manager.

Oh look. The emo is angry because the players respect and admire the manager. Sacrilege.

No, i'm angry because the players should be playing for the club, not the manager. The club is permanent, the manager isn't.

It's the done thing, it's how it's always been, yet you young bastards have no ****ing idea how things should be done, the players are a disgrace to the fans and the club for backing the manager as opposed to the club. The club pays their wages, provides employment etc. The manager prevents them from winning stuff by being an incompetent tool.

I can't think of very many jobs where your manager doesn't have a bearing on who you want to work for. Particularly for footballers where their manager is their coach as well, it is totally unsurprising, and perfectly natural.

You might as well complain about the earth going round the sun.

Come on Kyle, give it a rest lad. You are being ridiculous now. Do you expect the players to say "we don't care who the manager is, we came here because it's Arsenal?" Dream on son. Wenger had a huge hand in bringing those players to the club, so of course they want him to stay.
As for the situation, he's addressed the defensive issues, the tactical issues to a large degree, and various other things that people were crying out to be changed. The only thing remaining at present is a new striker, which is infuriating, but the club are moving in the right direction, and there is no denial of that. FFP is coming in, and Arsenal are negotiating HUGE money deals giving ample funds to spend.
You're spouting ridiculous drivel now, presumably because you had a few drinks last night. The players aren't a disgrace, and lest you forget, THEY wear the shirt, THEY play the games, THEY win the matches, THEY are top of the league, THEY go out there and put their bodies on the line for this club that YOU claim to love, while YOU post on the internet saying they're a disgrace.

Not sure why contract talks for Wenger should come up in the middle of a season. We should wait until the end of the season and then talk about it. Wenger will sign or not regardless of when the talks start. He himself has always said, lets wait until the end of the season. So why not wait until the end of the season?

Hey Bonstar - about your signature.

What is the probability of winning a game if you keep a clean sheet?

What is the probability of winning a game if you score 1 goal?

    I rest my case.

However, for someone I have sparred with a few times, I still seem to keep trying to give you rep and get told that I have to spread it around more!

In all fairness TT, you cannot win a game if you only keep a clean sheet, but can if you only score 1 goal.
