It is reported that Gael Clichy claims to have left Arsenal for Man Citeh because of the teams failure to win any trophies since 2006. (Today's Mail on Sunday) In fact Clichy was the only remaining member of the squad to hold a PL winners medal thus at least having the knowledge of what is was like to win something. With Cesc and Samir likely to follow him out of Arsenal the question is does any one really believe that Arsenal can win the PL while Wenger remains manager or are we in for another 7 trophyless years at the Emirates?
Of course we can win the league with Wenger in charge. This is the SAME person who took us through a Season unbeaten. He just needs to go back to his old transfer policy. Keep Nasri/Fabregas add a Quality powerful centreback and left back and we'll be in for a shot.
I have to say, Wenger's comments about not needing to replace Clichy concern me. I think it's crucial that we add a LB and a CB - if we don't and we start shipping goals again like we did last year, I think Wenger's head is going to be on the block.
