Wenger has confirmed that Park will leave, as will Squillaci & Bendtner:

"Bendtner, Squillaci and Park will be on their way to go somewhere. Arshavin? It depends. We have to sit together and talks. He could still have a future at the club."

Does this mean Podolski is taking Park's #9 shirt? It'll be good to see the back of the Squilster and his high wages. A shame about Bendtner, he does have ability.

Do you think Arshavin has a future at Arsenal? He just doesn't seem cut out for the Premiership if he's not being deployed centrally. He's over 30 now and isn't going to be able to power up and down the wing, his lack of defensive duty has already let him down badly in the past.

With those 3 shifted, along with Vela & Denilson, it's been a good close season for outgoing business, though I'd like to see Chamakh leave. If Carzola comes in, vP & Theo stay, the squad will be considerably stronger than last year.

If we change formation to more of a 4-4-2 then Arshavin would be great as a second striker.

Maybe Arshaving can be our "Rosicky" - the return from the "dead".

Arshavin must realise he needs to work much harder . Then he can rediscover himself as a supersub. When the opposition parks the bus he is one of the few with an yet for a killer pass. The moment he starts working really hard on the pitch he will be back in favour in no time. The guy still has class that is beyond most of our players.

Getting rid of Squillaci is vital. This guy was brought in as a first choice defender (hence the wages) and now he is arguably behind SIX other CB's in the pecking order. When I hear about his confirmed departure I will celebrate it like we scored an important goal.

I think it is unlikely that we will go to a 4-4-2. Wenger was describing the type of striker that Giroud is. I think a 3-5-2 is more likely than a 4-4-2 quite frankly. I just don't think we are going to be able to pass the ball through the midfield with only 2 central midfielders. It is a bit of a mystery to be honest, I cant see him just saving Giroud for a 4-4-2 when we are playing games which we dominate.

I mean if we play Arshavin-Podolski-Giroud-Walcott across the top in a 4-4-2 we are going to give away 100 goals a season, and we are going to be going back to pumping long balls forward.

Someone is a bit touchy. Asking a simple question as to why you disliked a post that would make 99.9% of Arsenal fans happy.

    I agree.

Like bobo suggested, Arshavin could do reasonably well in Rosicky's position. Alternately, if our 4-3-3 changes their style so that the central midfielders cover the full backs instead of Arshavin/Walcott doing that job, then Arshavin would have more license to play as a supporting striker instead of a winger.

Selling Squillaci is a Godsend ! - I thought he was a decent buy at the time, but he turned out to be a total shambles at Arsenal.

As for Park - it's a bit of a mystery why Wenger bought him, his national service was cancelled, wenger never played him . . probably one of the strangest Arsenal careers ever.

Bit gutted to see Bendtner go, I thought he was a fairly decent player for us, but I think Arshavin has still got a chance if he can put in some ****ing effort.

I don't think many players display a lack of effort. I think Arshavin is poor defensively and shows poor judgement when he decides when he needs to come back to help. He tends to lose track of the RB that he should be tracking. I think also that last season hhe lost his match fitness.

As I say, I think lazy, is a little bit of an insulting way of putting it. I hope none of our players are really "Lazy" and I wouldn't expect them to get onto the pitch if they really were lazy. This is the part of the issue with our role as fans though. Arshavin could be being told, NOT to track back, NOT to chase the ball infield, etc, etc. all the things that we deem lazy.

Sometimes we see ouselves as managers and then criticize players for not carrying out the things we would want the player to do, not rating them against the job they have been actually asked to do. Ramsey and Song have definitely fallen foul of this, I just wonder if Arshavin has as well.

I actually want Park to stay, he's proven elsewhere he's a decent player, i never understood why Wenger didn't give him a chance, he's a better option than Chamakh.

It's hard to reconcile this opinion with things we have seen Arshavin do on the pitch. I remember a comical example of his idleness when an attack broke down on the wing, the opposition keeper then made an error and ironically Arshavin was perfectly placed for an opportunistic finish because he was just strolling back after he had lost the ball! Does anyone else remember this?

It was the swansea game last season, Vorm fluffed his clearance, Arshavin was just standing around near the box, got the ball and scored.

It was against Swansea when Vorm made a mistake and Arshavin scored. There was another similar goal against Fulham when Svchwarzer made a similar mistake and Andrei stole the ball.. That's where Arshavin is brilliant. Citing it as an example of laziness is beyond me. He just stayed close to the ball knowing that something can always happen, that is how he stole the ball from After and again scored. Good forward must look for these opportunities and Arshavin is a great opportunist.

Agger, not After. My mobile keyboard sucks. Can't even edit.

Its stange but i'd rather we sell Chamackh the Park. Least Park has scored goals regularly before Arsenal. Chamackh just seems scared to even run into the box.

Better yet sell them both and get that Niang Fella :)
