It is being reported in the media today that Wenger is saying BOTH Fabregas and Nasri will stay at the Emirates. When asked if Nasri would sign a new deal, Wenger, said: 'Will he be at the club next season? I say yes. 'The second part (of the question) - will he sign a new contract? I hope yes, but I am not the only one to decide.' Nasri a target for Man Utd, has stated he is unsure whether he will sign a new deal and if the situation continues, Arsenal could see Nasri run down his contract and leave for nothing next summer, just like Mathieu Flamini in 2008. So has Wenger been silly over a situation where he could sell Nasri for around £20 million thus allowing him to reinvest in his team; or is he in danger of once again allowing one of his assets to walk out the door for nothing? Wenger previously said that he won't allow Nasri to run down his contract like Flamini did in 2008, but he looks to have changed his mind. It looks like Nasri will stay not sign a new contract unless we start winning things. Although I'm not worried the slightest bit about Nasri leaving, I'd like Wenger to stick to his word and either let him go or make him sign a new contract.
I would be monumentally stupid to let Nasri run down his contract and leave for nothing. As it is 20 million from United is better than him doing a Flamini. No player can be made sign a contract and I believe that if Nasri is not sold this summer he will be a free agent next summer.
Cesc will be sold, I have no doubt about that. Nasri is a strange one. Not so much strange that he could end up at Utd or City but how on earth such a key player's contract ended up in this position again!
For some reason I have a feeling it's more likely to be the other way around. I think Nasri is more likely to be sold because he's a greedy little pig who thinks he's better than everyone else. I will never forgive him, even if he stays. I personally hope he's sold this summer as I think we can easily replace him. The Fabregas situation is a bit different though. We all know his dream is to play for Barcelona one day, but he's currently happy at Arsenal. If Barca cough up the right about, he will leave with my blessing. He's been a great servant for this club and he's always given it his all. If they don't he won't leave until his contract runs down to the last year or two and we'll sell him at a cut price.
