Members from the AST met with Ivan Gazidis and his finance director for two hours last night and specifically asked whether finances were available to strengthen the squad. Tim Payton trust spokesperson had this to say Also asked whether Wenger should stay or go he said I'm in agreement with this. Give Wenger the money to spend on the squad, which encompasses the January and summer transfer window. If by this time next year there is no improvement, then I think we have to think about a new manager.http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20705876
A lot of fans criticise Ivan Gazidis but i think he should be given credit for meeting with fan's groups especially after Tuesday's disaster
That's a tired old excuse isn't it? Of course there are players around. When the $hit flies on the pan, we will see the "Right players" come to Arsenal. One thing i've learnt is to take anything that comes out of the media with a pinch of salt. That includes what the Arsenal PLC machine wheels out now and then. I will wait and see what they do before getting all excited.
How is it a tired old excuse? The club will have it's targets and if they aren't available or are demanding too much then there's nothing that can be done.
Gazidis said the following: "I think I am frankly tired of getting up here and delivering the same message," Gazidis said. "Tuesday night was not good enough and it made us all upset and angry. I would like to apologise to all of you, especially the fans who travelled up there. It was unbelievable support as ever and you deserved better. That's more like it! Instead of the BS Wenger came out with, praising the players.
There is a significant difference in saying something to the media and saying something to a closed meeting with Arsenal supporters.None of us know what Wenger said to the players in the dressing room after the game or what was said the next time the players met up at Colney
Erm, the meeting may have been closed door, but it's a meeting everyone knows about, and I'm sure Gazidis was fully aware his speech would go public. Gazidis finally says it like it is, NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
I notice you didn't reply to my substantive point which is you don't know what Wenger said to the players after the game about their performance.I for one am glad that our manager doesn't wash our dirty laundry in public.
Publicly telling the media that our performance wasn't good enough, and that was unacceptable, is far from airing dirty laundry, but simply stating the obvious facts. Wenger came out publicly praising the players, that's what we have from him, end of story.
That's maybe what we got (though I'm not sure we did) but we don't know what the players got, as GC says.
You know what proves the players aren't getting a kick in the backside? BECAUSE THEY KEEP PLAYING POORLY and doing the same sh!t over and over again, that's all the proof you need that what's being said in private, reflects what's being said in public. He praises them for their efforts, so this is why we often see a similar poor performance from them, because in private he doesn't lambast them, so they well and truly believe everything's ok, and hence they continue in a similar fashion. If that's not the case, then you should be more worried, as it all it shows is we have sh!t players who aren't going to improve at all, with or without a kick to the backside, in other words, they're hopeless.
you still don't know what the manager said to the team about their performance in the dressing room after the game
I do: "This was a good performance, I'm proud of you boys, you showed desire, spirit, and great commitment."
