Apparently Wenger has told VP that he is happy with the current squad, how they can know this from a private meeting and I know it's from the Oh Ah Daily Star but it is definately worrying if true.........
From his recent interviews its easy to assertain that he is in fact happy with the current squad. Which is a shame because the squad is nowhere near good enough to challenge United. I'm actually fed up with listening to Wenger speak these days because he just contradicts himself or outright lies.
He knows unless the board let him bring in genuine quality then the squad isnt good enough. The problem is, he knows this wont happen so he has to just say he likes the squad to keep the confidence up.
If that's true why is he reported to be trying to offload Squillaci and Bendtner (without much success). It sounds more like he accepts there will be few if any further signings and is trying to make the best of it. Still worrying tho'.
I really feel sorry for him taking the flak from just about everyone. It's no fun looking at the headlines, about what some ex-players are saying about what he should have done while all the time it might very well be the dummies and money men on the board who are dictating the direction this club is taking. Arsene has said he would not bring in players who are not of the same calibre as those we have now which is quite correct since this would only lift our expectations only for them to be dashed. That link was published on NewsNow yesterday and I hope it gets picked up and the story goes viral. Then pressure can be applied to the correct target - the board, not Arsene. It took me a few days and I now honestly agree with David Dein and others who have supported him throughout. Good for them for standing by their principles and by someone who is principled. Who are we to get if he goes? The next manager will have his hands tied by the board anyway unless of course they are shocked into reversing their policy. Arsene deserves to ride out of the Emirates a winner and when he decides to do so. So the next time fans chant for anyone's head at the stadium, it should be for those of Hill-Wood, Gazidis etc. ' Gazidis Out ' has a nice ring to it.
i agree 100% if the board wont up the level of wages then we wont get anyone better than we have now, which wont help us one bit
Don't believe a word of it... they said the money from the players sold would be reinvested in the squad. A lot depends on tomorrow's game...
Yeah I think (and hope) once we get through tomorrow there will be a more activity! Our hands are bound until we know the outcome of playing in the Champs League or not!
Exactly. He can't say in an interview that he thinks Squillaci is **** and he can't get rid of him, then put him in the team for the weekend.
a lot of players like/would like to play in the CL thats why its reported that hazard deal all depends on if we qualify
As leethegunner said, a lot of the players we are trying to sign will only come to us if there is the lure of CL footie... otherwise forget it.
I dont think the board can be to blame. Wenger is just conflicted. Just listen to him!! He does'nt want to sign anyone. (above the age of 12 anyway) Here's a few quotes from the last couple of months: 1. " We will try to get all our transfer business done as early as possible". 2. " Fabregas will stay" 3. "Nasri will be staying at Arsenal" 4. "I wont be signing any offensive players" 5. "I will sign AT LEAST one more defender" Its very hard to know who's to blame but Wenger's lack of honesty and ambiguous answers have not done him any favours.
papers chat ****.... Just look at the sun today, Ian wrights collumn has pictures that shows arsene wenger with his head in his hands looking distraught...... If you actually watch he was just brushing the water out of his hair, but lets not let the whole video change the point of it paused in a certain spot and Mata apparently saying he said no to arsenal, despite last week saying we never made any approach"
i think there are a few reasons why wenger always says these things, 1 so it dont put they players he has down, 2 he cant come out and say that the board will pay the transfer fees but wont up the wage cap, he is contracted to arsenal after all, if anyone said that their boss/es were no good you would be sacked
Spot on. No manager would ever come out and effectively write there team off as crap. As I have said before he knows who he wants to bring in, it's up to the dinosaurs upstairs to wake up and smell the Europa League!
