Yes, No or maybe... Or should it most definetly be an Englishmans job? Sven Goran Eriksson has tipped Arsene Wenger as a possible successor to Fabio Capello as England manager. .Capello is set to leave the role after the end of Euro 2012, should England qualify, and speculation will be rife over the coming months about the man to replace him. The likes of Harry Redknapp and Roy Hodgson have been mentioned as possible candidates amid the clamour for an Englishman to be appointed into the tole Most of the mainstream media seems to believe that Harry Redknapp's appointment is a mere formality, but Eriksson believes the Arsenal manager could be an alternative. "Whatever the nationality of the coach, he has a difficult time if you don't reach the semi-final," Eriksson told The Times. "Quarter-finals were not good enough! I don't know what [the FA] are going to do, who they will take. "Reporters talk about [Harry] Redknapp as the people's choice and I'm quite sure if they could get Wenger, they would take him. Adaptable "Arsene Wenger can adapt to everything. I mean, he lives for football and his family. "If you consider him foreign [after his 15 years in England], I don't know. "When I was there, that was a big issue, all the time more or less, because I was the first foreigner. But that's gone, I think. Then they went back to an English manager and that didn't work out, so they appointed a foreign manager
Wenger would be great as a candiate to develop grass roots in the UK and make sure young english players are getting the type of training they need from a young age in order to succeed at national and international lever. I dont see him as England manager though (I dont see him wanting the job tbh)
I'm going to stir things up a bit now by suggesting that if the next England manager has to be English , then the FA need look no further than our own Steve Bruce. Discuss . . . . .
I absolutely refuse to discuss anything that is on a discussion forum. You should be ashamed at yourself for suggesting such a thing... Seriously, why do people put "discuss" at the end of a post? hell, i might even have been guilty of doing it myself in the past, have no idea why i would have done though.
Must be an Englishman, but not Harry Redknapp. Stuart Pearce has not particularly shone for the unders. I would like no one other than Ian Holloway. Heck, we can't do any worse in tournaments than we already do, at least with him we would at worst lose in style. But who knows, might be the key to success, at least we'd be entertained and he may be able to regenerate interest in the national team.
