Arsene Wenger has confirmed Arsenal want to sign two players in January as well as bringing back Thierry Henry for a third spell at the club.

Speaking to French television station Bein Sport, the 63-year-old has confirmed funds are available to strengthen when the January transfer window opens.

The return of club legend - and all-time leading goalscorer - Henry has been talked up by both parties, and in lavishing praise on the New York Red Bulls striker, Wenger confirmed efforts were underway to secure a second loan spell.
He said: 'This winter we will work very hard because we have some funds available. It could happen that we buy two players, but I cannot reveal the names.

'A loan [for Henry] is still a possibility, but we will still try to strengthen for the long term.
'Henry is the talent that you dream to have. He has fantastic physique, fantastic technique, a fantastic brain, all built together in one man. At the start he was not confident enough but he has gone on to show what a great player he is.'
Among those being chased by Arsenal are Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha and Schalke striker Klass Jan Huntelaar.

I would personally love to see Wenger add a TOP class striker. Edison Cavani would be my first choice but would not come cheap. Huntelaar and Llorente have both run down contracts and may be available for a good price.

It seems to me all the criticism Wenger has received recently has lit a fire under his belly - we may well see an unusually busy January window.

One point though. Is the Wilf a replacement for Theo?

Hmmm . . .I was just thinking something similar. If we buy two, but two leave, then it might not turn out to be such exciting news.

    That would be a godsend.

    My ideal January is:

    IN

    Huntelaar
    Zaha
    Debuchy (if Sagna leaves)
    Willems

    Out
    Santos
    Squillaci
    Bendtner
Eastmond (when are we going to release this guy?)

Might as well let Arshavin go. Wenger is not using him and he is one of the highest paid players at the club.

Oh and Chamakh as well. Bloody hell, we have a lot of deadwood at our club and expensive ones at that.

Do you reckon Henry would start now? Or would Giroud keep his place?

Do not think so. He did not start any games in his last loan spell. Was basically a super sub and he will probably play that role again next year.

Rarely we buy without anyone leaving. Bit like giroud was suppose to be additional player to the squad but was RVP replacement.

Nevertheless, good with some new blood!

    I'm hoping for cavani :)

I'm sure Theo would be gutted with this, much less chance of playing as a striker then.

I would assume Theo is leaving. Otherwise Wenger wouldn't be so keen to pursue a forward during January.

Perhaps signing Walcott and getting diaby back is like two new signings ;)

We need a new striker 100%, and a new creative force for midfield.

Cavani at Arsenal would be the best Xmas present. Llorente is a real possibility because of our Spanish contingent. Ozil is unhappy at losing his place to Modric in Madrid.

Getting Huntelaar would make me unhappy. I already know he'd be a failure.

Losing Walcott would be the worst thing that could happen. Replacing with Zaha would basically see us revert back to about 4 years ago. Oxo would be the new Walcott, and Zaha the next Oxo.

Huntelaar and Zaha just don't excite me at all.

There is no chance in hell of getting Cavani, way over our pay roll, the guy would cost 30-40 million, and his wages would be sky high.

Llorente is a very high possibility, and I hope we get him over Lopez, Lopez isn't really that much of an impressive player, but seems to be another simple 'good' player, not what we really need.

Ozil would be a fantastic signing, but can't see that happening, are there rumours about that?

I'm hoping we don't go for Zaha, I honestly don't think Zaha's going to do any better than OXO.
