FORMER Sunderland loannee Danny Welbeck has backed Henderson to make an impact in this summerâs European Under-21 Championships. Both Henderson and Manchester United striker Welbeck are included in Stuart Pearceâs squad for the tournament in Denmark later this month. But first Pearceâs side face a final warm- up friendly against Norway at Southamptonâs St Maryâs Stadium on Sunday. âBoth Jordan and I are looking forward to the tournament after getting picked for the squad,â said Welbeck, who impressed last season while on loan with the Black Cats. âFor the Under-21s, Jordan has really shown his ability to get on the ball and move it about. Heâs done really well in the last couple of games. âHe can do well in the tournament and because of how he is, he can take control of most midfield battles.â No doubt if jordan does well, all these flippin stories will start again...
I hope Jordan is the star of the show personally as it will mean he comes back next season full of himself and full of confidence. If he is the star we benefit from a rejuvenated player and his value will soar to levels that may well put off most suitors. Imagine, if he is the top English player he will immediately attract a fee of 20m plus, which only Man City or Chelsea will be able to afford and they are not looking for his type of player. Its a double bonus for SAFC and I can tell you that Jordan himself has no intentions of leaving by his own choice, his boyhood club.
this is from the liverpool echo, seems they understand he's not going. SUNDERLAND have no intention of selling England midfielder Jordan Henderson to Liverpool or anyone else this summer. The 20-year-old found himself at the centre of speculation that the Merseyside club are ready to launch a big-money bid to lure him away from his home-town club. However, while the Black Cats know every player has his price, they are certainly not looking to cash in on their highest-profile Academy graduate as manager Steve Bruce attempts to strengthen his squad for a fresh Premier League push. Sources on Wearside have indicated that Henderson is simply not for sale, and certainly not at the £13million fee quoted in some reports. Nevertheless, that is unlikely to quell the rumours surrounding a player who has previously been linked with both Manchester clubs. Henderson has enjoyed a meteoric rise since emerging as a genuine first-team prospect under Bruce following a successful loan spell at Coventry before the manager’s arrival at the Stadium of Light in the summer of 2009. The Sunderland-born player made an instant impact as a teenager last season and was handed a first senior England cap against France in November last year.
