http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/former-cardiff-city-striker-jay-10393526 I would normally say no, but in his prime he was 10 times better than what we have now. Trouble is that his prime is a long time gone. If fit, is he worth a punt?
Thought this was another cheer leader thread until I opened it................ No I wouldn't want him back amongst the current squad - likely to be potentially unsettling given 'his success' and the 'previous city teams success' with no real benefit to us in having him around. It will also be potentially devisive amongst the fans adding fuel to the Slade out brigade.
I've watched Bothroyd playing for Iwata quite a few times through the summer and he's been very impressive. His style is just the same as over here but he doesn't fall over as much these days. His skill is obvious and if anything it makes him seem slow but that's deceptive. In reality, his awareness and link play is still better than anything I've seen at City this past couple of years. He gets on the end of attacks like no one we've got at the moment and I think he's got 20+ goals this season for them to boot. Don't be fooled by the fact that Iwata are a second tier team - some of the stuff they play in that division fair takes your breath away when you compare what we're having to put up with over here. As for having him back (if he'd come) it would be very much a short term move to fill an obvious void in our side - he's head and shoulders above anything we've got.
I watched him last year. Strong, and still got the skills. But he has been out of high class football for awhile. Would he do a better job then KWJ? I don't think so. Would he be happy being a backup player? I don't think so. Should we sign on? Depends on his attitude and the contract he wants.
not sure we have the midfield to provide him the service he needs. And he was never one to go chasing the ball. In a different set up i'd say maybe. But if we had a different set up the revolving door of strikers would have had more success.
